Re: Middle of No-Where Customs (5/5/21... Drowned Thrall)
The part about destroying the Drowned Thrall after it destroys a figure saves it from being under-costed at 30 points.

Re: Middle of No-Where Customs (5/5/21... Drowned Thrall)
For sure thanks.
Wanted to keep it in line with bloodburst, when that one does its hat trick it dies. Might be interesting as a 30 point filler on a water/swamp map though. |

I would definitely use this guy in a Nicholas Esenwein build!

GOTHLOK: Aura of Despair As a figure that follows Valkrill, Poe is immune to the affects of AURA OF DESPAIR. Synergy Benefits Offered n/a [/LIST] Comments and ideas welcome! Poe is a giant skeleton, nothing too special but makes a great boss monster for any scenarios or dungeon crawl style playing that you might do. Can utterly smash a single target, thrash a group of squaddies that have decided to surround him or step over them to get to something more interesting. Definitely a boss monster and Aura of Despair helps him to keep the board in check. Last edited by Shiftrex; May 12th, 2021 at 12:09 AM. |

Re: Shiftrex Customs (5/10/21... Giant Skeleton)
I like how you reused Wild Swing Special Attack from Jotun. The only problem I see is that the way Long Strides is written, he still take leaving engagement attacks from those figures that he moves through, if he leaves engagement with them after moving through them. His 5 Life won't hold up for long if you play him that way.

Re: Shiftrex Customs (5/10/21... Giant Skeleton)
I always thought Long Stride was Phantom Walk against small/medium figures, as it is for the initial SoA Custom I ripped it from. But I checked Breach's card that you borrowed the wording for and his Long Strides is indeed only Ghost Walk against small/medium figures. Odd that the C3V power be so close to the Custom-originated one yet so different in gameplay. You pay a lot for that extra S at the end
The figure himself is quite deadly against melee armies, but he'll die real fast to range so he seems fair despite the high attack and SA from a 225-point figure. Also for reference the Gothlok synergy section still mentions the Drowned Thrall. Probably a copy/paste error ~TAF TAF was the Storyteller... in THE ENEMY'S LAST RETREAT |

Re: Shiftrex Customs (5/10/21... Giant Skeleton)
I like Poe quite a bit overall! It's nice to see a fun boss monster like this.
5L/3D feels a bit fragile for 150 point melee figure, but Aura of Despair helps out a lot against melee opponents, and I could see it being a fun challenge for melee heroes in a dungeon crawl. It might be worth testing out 6 life to smooth out his weakness to range a bit, but of course that makes him even more difficult for low-attack melee figures to take out. It is worth noting that Aura of Despair is the same power name that Gothlok used. I'm also not a huge fan of powers being called auras unless they impact more than adjacency, but that's a personal quibble. Perhaps something along the lines of Terrifying Presence could work? Wild Swing and Long Strides are both very solid powers that fit the miniature well. In dungeon crawls, Wild Swing will probably have limited usefulness, but the ability to smack something adjacent with a 4A SA and -1D is already pretty good (and dungeon crawl baddies can often be somewhat niche anyway). Comments and ideas welcome! Tor is a great stand alone hero or another viable option in the Talingul Army that can bypass high defense figures and squash an entire squad if they are placed poorly. I don't think it outdoes Avernus but it should fill a different spot on the table. |

n/a Comments and ideas welcome! Alun has gone through a few different versions in my notebook and I think that this one stays pretty true to the idea of the source material while still showing cohesiveness with the classic piece we have from heroscape. |
