@scapedood ,

Since your scans are better and faster, I'm thinking of sending you a bunch of Lord of the Rings figures to scan. Would you have time for that?

I was thinking something similar but wasnt as sure on if it would be a good idea IP wise. Rare and out of print figures would be great for this type of thing though.

I'd be happy to scan any figures people would want to send me, but any figures sent would take a back seat in queue to the heroscape figures i'll be scanning soon.

Though, one big thing I discussed with Leaf_it is the scanning process.

The scanner I use uses light reflection in order to scan the figure. very dark parts that absorb a lot of light, super reflective parts that reflect too much light, and transparent parts that let the light pass through them don't work with the scanner. To counteract this, I've used developer chalk in order to give the figures a flat matte surface on the figures I've scanned.

The chalk comes off easily, and I would clean any figures that I would have to spray.

Here is a before and after cleaning of one of the figures I've scanned with the chalk. (The brown areas wouldn't show up on the scan if i didn't use the chalk)

before cleaning

after cleaning

I haven't had any issues using it with of the heroscape figures i've scanned, but who knows.

Also, I would want to be reimbursed for the return shipping for any non-heroscape figures people would want scanned.

Yes, of course I'd pay for shipping both ways. And chalk is fine. I usually spray figures with dulling spray before scanning (which supposedly evaporates eventually), but the chalk is probably better.

I'll hold of while you work on the classic stuff. We're not in a hurry.

Hi ScapeDood,

I reached out to you previously about helping you with scans as I live about an hour away. I had not responded because I was working on a deal. Long story short, I am now $2000 poorer and one complete collection of HeroScape richer.

Would you still like me to come through with whatever figures you're missing or have you figured out another solution?

I was in conversation with Leaf It about him sending me the rest, but since leaf it is in UT, it would be much better if we handled it locally.

I'll PM you with some important details.

Nice.
Was that a complete collection all for $2000, or did you already have a good chunk, and this just completed what you had?

Took some time to paint some Nagrubs I printed a while ago. Washes are painting on EZ mode. I literally used two colors and a wash.

Has anyone heard from Amarant? I haven't heard back since the initial PM.

The best way to stay in touch with Amarant is the heroscape discord where he goes by Alexandros.
