Ok what about this? It’s basically been suggested before, just in a slightly different way.

DISPERSED
Once per round after using the Self Explosion Special Attack you may place Nitro on this card. When placed on this card Nitro will not take any leaving engagement attacks. At the beginning of the next round if Nitro is on this card and not destroyed you may place him on the battlefield within one space of his original placement. While in this card Nitro may not use any other special abilities

If this doesn’t work for you guys then we can go to Ronin’s version.

You should probably use a marker if we need to remember where he was on the battlefield.

While on this card, Nitro may not use any other special abilities. At the beginning of a round, before rolling initiative, if Nitro is on this card and not destroyed, you may place him on the battlefield within one space of his Reconstitution marker and then remove the marker from the battlefield.

Would a permanent glyph make more sense than a marker here? Yes it stops movement, but that's not a huge issue, and there's a lot more precedent for glyphs on the battlefield. Has some minor interactions with a few figures (Zola, Galactus, Matter Eater) but this is no weirder than the interactions those figures have with Temporal Displacement or Fear Gas.

I'm fine with a glyph or memorization. It's not too hard to remember where he was when he used a big SA, and you know when you remove him that you'll need to remember. Definitely wary of leaving a marker on the battlefield - that's the much weirder and more complex route to me, rules-wise.

Eh, I'm just not totally comfortably with introducing the idea of dropping markers on spaces on the battlefield. That's never been done before, right? We can say that's not "introduc[ing] rules complexity", but I suspect there would be natural questions about whether that space is still considered empty, whether the marker can be moved through, what happens if Galactus eats the space or Magma puts hot lava on it, etc.

You could have literally the same power as the one you outlined above with a blank "reconstitution glyph". Or you could just go with L0B5T3R's version that requires people to remember Nitro's placement. I think all three have arguments in their favor.

Mirror Master puts a marker on the battlefield, but his power resolves all at once, so it doesn't introduce the same rules questions that using a marker here would.

Because that's not an established concept and it's not inherently clear that it wouldn't affect the battlefield in any way.

There is a huge difference between Ronin's last version and this version. If he's on his card he's immune. In Ronin's version he could be attacked by if clear sight wasn't needed. Wasn't the issue his end game immunity or did I go from kind of lost to completely lost here?

As to the marker issues.

1. I'd rather just leave it with no Marker and let you remember it...if you place a marker there for your memory it's not part of the game and nothing changes.

2. I don't think we should just add a rule in every time something new comes along. If needed, yes...just because we don't want to explore another way, No.
