The Book of Floronic Man
The Book of Floronic Man C3G DC WAVE 12 LEGENDS OF THE DARK KNIGHT The figure used for this unit is a Heroclix figure from the Arkham Asylum set. _________________________________________________________________ Its model number and name are 005/ Floronic Man. NOTE: Floronic Man requires 1x Evergreen Tree Destructible Object Character Bio - “Woodrue is an exile from an interdimensional world (Floria) inhabited by dryads. Calling himself the Plant Master, Woodrue uses his advanced botanical knowledge to control plant growth in an attempt to take over the world. He is defeated by the superheroic Atom.” Later, “Woodrue uses an experimental formula to transform his body into a plant/human hybrid, with his skin resembling bark and his hair turning into leaves. Now calling himself the Floronic Man, he is defeated by Green Lantern. The Floronic Man later becomes a member of the Secret Society of Super-Villains […] Woodrue is hired by General Averly Sunderland to discover how scientist Alec Holland had been turned into the Swamp Thing. Woodrue discovers that the creature, instead of being a mutated version of Holland, is instead an intelligent mass of plant life that had fed on Holland's dead body and absorbed his knowledge and memories. The Floronic Man tries to warn Sunderland that the Swamp Thing is not dead, but the General refuses to listen and announces his intent to terminate Woodrue's employment. Subsequently, the Floronic Man traps Sunderland in his office with a thawed and enraged Swamp Thing, who kills the General. […] Floronic Man uses the Swamp Thing's body to contact the Green, which is composed of the life force of all plants on Earth. The experience drives the Floronic Man insane, and he sets out to destroy all nonplant life on Earth by forcing the plants to produce an excess amount of oxygen to force humanity into extinction, in the belief that he is 'saving' Earth from mankind. Woodrue is confronted by a revived Swamp Thing, who reveals to the Green that plants cannot survive without animals as he is depriving them of the carbon dioxide they require to breathe, forcing Woodrue to acknowledge that his actions are the actions of a man rather than a plant. The Green abandons the Floronic Man, who is then taken into custody by the Justice League.” It is later revealed that Woodrue was “a University professor who taught botany to Philip Sylvian, Alec & Linda Holland, and Pamela Isley (Poison Ivy).” (Wikipedia, 2011). _________________________________________________________________ -Rulings and Clarifications-

Re: The Book of Floronic Man
NAME = FLORONIC MAN
SECRET IDENTITY = JASON WOODRUE SPECIES = METAHUMAN UNIQUENESS = UNIQUE HERO CLASS = GENIUS PERSONALITY = INSANE SIZE/HEIGHT = MEDIUM 5 LIFE = 6 MOVE = 5 RANGE = 1 ATTACK = 4 DEFENSE = 4 POINTS = 135 ACCELERATED TREE GROWTH Start the game with 1 Evergreen Tree Destructible Object on this card. After moving, before attacking, you may choose an empty space within 6 spaces of Floronic Man and place 1 Evergreen Tree Destructible Object from this card on the chosen space. Placed trees must fit on the battlefield normally. If you destroy an Evergreen Tree Destructible Object, you may remove all Wound Markers from its Army Card and place it on this card. PLANT ANIMATION 12 After moving and instead of attacking, roll the 20-sided die for all opponents' figures within two spaces of an Evergreen Tree or Jungle Piece that is within 6 spaces of Floronic Man, one at a time. If you roll 12 or higher, the figure receives one wound. C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: The Book of Floronic Man - Design Phase
I know nothing of this guy, but now I see why the offensive nature of the trees being preferred to defensive nature of them. Interesting points value of 135 there Bats, you usually like nice round numbers
Seems straight forward enough. Though not knowing the character, is there a reason for 6 lives? Kind of looks like Joker 1 with 6 lives/3 defense. Okay, I just looked him up and see why he has a lot of life. Could his defense be higher based on this from DC Comic Database? Quote:

Re: The Book of Floronic Man - Design Phase
Looks good. I worry though that players may try to place Great Evergreen Trees on this card, and the current language doesn't really allow the 4 space Great Evergreen Tree to be placed on a single space.

Re: The Book of Floronic Man - Design Phase
Are the normal Evergreen Tree DOs just called Evergreen Tree DOs? If so, then the current language should exclude Great Evergreen Tree DOs and we can back that up in FAQs. I think it's cleaner mechanically to stick to just the single based trees (and would probably work better for most people since the Great Evergreen Trees are rarer).

Re: The Book of Floronic Man - Design Phase
The figure used for this unit is a Heroclix figure from the Arkham Asylum set. Its model number and name are 005/ Floronic Man. Looks good,Bats! Semi-Retired C3G Hero (and first Official Member of the C3G Target Audience!) The correct way to add C3G playtests to posts. My favorite day EVER on heroscapers. Re: The Book of Floronic Man - Design Phase
Never heard of this guy before. Cool design though. He'll be a nice one to draft along with the Insane team.
Should he have Fire Weakness? Not a biggie. Just thought I'd ask. I think Griffin's fix is a good idea. It avoids an FAQ. |
