I wanna see how Ronin's playtest turns out first. It's not a bad idea to keep it an even 3 and 3. I think 4 and 4 would be a little much.

I don't much care which way, just something to make it easier on the end user and something we could fiddle with for a second version pretty easily.

Opponent’s figures cannot use the Magical Defense or Temporal Defense powers when attacked by Magik's adjacent normal attack.

MAGICAL DEFENSE
When Magik is attacked by an opponent's figure that does not have the Magical Defense special power, the most wounds Magik can take for this attack is one.

Good showing for Magik here; she got tripped up moving out of the SZ early by rolling 4 blanks for Stepping Disks, but otherwise the disks worked very well, letting her bypass screens and go after key figures she needed to assassinate. Mainly that was Kirigi. She almost dropped before sealing the deal and taking down Kirigi, but Professor X made a risky play and burnt his X OM early in the round to keep her alive. That gave her the killing blow on Kirigi, but Chuck ended up going down shortly afterward. X-Men team was in trouble by that point anyway and I think Chuck might have died that round anyhow, so I don't regret it. It put the X-Men on the board.

Anyway, game overall ended up being a loss for the X-Men, but you can't lay that at Illyana's feet. The mutants just didn't have the tools to keep up with the ninja horde in attack efficiency.

Unit Summary:

• Damage Done (Normal Attack): destroyed 2 Hand Ninja in 2 attacks, 6 wounds to Kirigi in 4 attacks (destroyed)
• Stepping Discs: used 3 times to advance. First time she moved up, but then rolled 4 blanks and got moved back to the SZ. Later attempts let her all successfully go roundabouts where she wanted

Magik actually didn't end up using the Stepping Disks in this one - Jean hucked her up the field a couple times early, which got her mobilized. Once she took the field, she just didn't really need to disengage at any point (the enemy army not having a lot of screens), so it didn't come up.

The first part of this game was really fast and furious, with a lot of figures taking 3+ wounds in single hits. Magik was maybe the only figure that really managed to stick around for a long time and soak up attacks. Zemo's team eventually managed to wear her down, though, and the game got drawn down to Warren, Chuck and Jean vs Rhino in the endgame. It took a while to play out and Rhino almost scraped through, but got taken down in the end.

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: Fun design. A bit less dynamic when she doesn't have juicy Soul Sword targets to assassinate, but she still feels viable in those sorts of builds to me, since she's very durable for her points. (Plus as a cheap MD option for the Mutants, she'll be plenty spell-friendly)
