I ran the playtest for Gregor earlier today, And I've come to decide he either needs some Nerfing, or a point increase. Placing him against a similarly costed hero, Gregor will shred him like tissue, and a against a squad, he hammered out 3/4 off them, the last being dispatched by a squad of accompanying axgrinders. While Gregor proved an effective budget beatstick, I think he is too deadly for his current points.

The report is spoiler-ed below. Please note, I had forgotten there was a rule about dealing extra wounds, so the results might be slightly skewed, but it is still relevant.

Trial 1: Gregor Crookedgear V.S Me-Burq-Sa
Myvra player: Heavyfishcannon
Utgar player: assistant

Spoiler Alert!

Deployment: Gregor is in the lower left corner, while Me-Burq-Sa is in the upper right.

Gregor smells a brawl, and make full movement to the bridge, to meet any foes.

Me-Burq-Sa trots over to see whats happening. He attempts a parylizing stare, but fails.

So, Me-Burq-Sa takes fire. The shot sucessfully hits.

"You Call that an attack? Let the steel of the dwarves help yer aim!"
Gregor charges, and hits with his mechanical strike.He deals 1 wound.
another wound is dealt to the deranged dwarf.

Gregor swings, but misses. thanks to his mechanical equipment, some damage is still done.

and thats enough to hurt the sniper!

Overview.

Deciding the dwarf was getting too close for comfort, Me-Burq-Sa oogles Gregor disconcertingly, paralyzing him.

Thats snipers for you. never could play fair. Gregor is hit!

Gregor returns to his senses, and bashes the Marro, relying again on his machinery.

And Me-Burg-Sa goes down!

Winner: Gregor Crookedgear!

Trial 2: Gregor Crookedgear V.S Me-Burq-Sa Part 2
Myvra player: Assistant
Utgar player: Me

Overview, from my perspective.

Our forces converge, again at the bridge.

Gregor moves up, and attacks Me-Burq-Sa.

He strikes true, and deals wound! (P.S: A more jarring example of me failing to remember rules!)

Me-Burq-Sa fails to parylize Gregor.

A relentless and angry dwarf charges Me-Burq-Sa mid retreat, and attacks!

I think mechanical strike might be a bit too powerful for the points. It has turned many whiffs into a sucessful strike, when matched with low defense values. Very good for squads!

And this is where I wish Me-Burq-Sa had a similar inability to fail a roll. Paralyzing stare fails yet again!

Me-Buq-Sa also misses his shot.

Gregor Crookedgear does not.

I also did a battle between Me-Burq-Sa and his Romans V.S Gregor and the Axgrinders, but I need to do something now, And will write it up later. Gregor won that too, though. Mechanical strikes a beast!

So how many dice were you rolling for Gregor's attacks? Cause you are only supposed to roll one for his attack and add two skulls to the result on that 1 dice but sometimes it looked like you were rolling three dice... Or were you just laying down the two dice to visually represent the additional two skulls?

Well alright then. I only have one test done, and it was unanimous that Gregor would have won the next fight anyway.

Gregor crookedgear arrives, along with a team of Axgrinders, on loan from Aquilla.

While Me-Burq-Sa returns, with some Roman mercenaries. That are diguised as warforged.

Overview

Me-Burq-Sa uses his roman bonding to take position in a lake.

And the roman-forged take to defending the bridge.

Me-Burq-Sa fails to stare at an axgrinder.

But the Axgrinder still rolls like he had been parylized...

And he falls off the little hedge.

This needs some explanation. So, Gregor is attacking one of the legionaries, who is adjacent to one of his buddies, so he got an additional defense dice, which is still not enough to overpower mechanical strike.
And a warforged roman goes down.

The dwarves rush up to attack Me-Burq-Sa, but they whiff.

A very wet and angry Marro exits the river.

The Romans surround Gregor, looking to take vengance for their friend.

Me-Burq-Sa stares down an axgrinder, who goes rigid with fear.

I forgot a pic, but two skulls are rolled, and the dead dwarf falls in the river.

Gregor smashes one of the Romeforged, who could not defend themselves.

Even Roman LARP gear isn't enough to defend against Mechanical strike.

The dice roll. (Forgot to put one other skull up)

Yet another son of Rome falls.

Some axgrinders get out of the lake.

And Me-Burq-Sa misses both his stare and his attack!
I begin to question if Gregor is truly overpowered or I'm just pitting him against crappy opponents.


And the last legionary falls.

Yet another failed snipe.
I seem to have lost the pics, but Gregor defeats Me-Burq-Sa shortly there after.

And that's the last playtest.

The final thoughts: Gregor is a close combat beast! I think I will play him against some more expensive units, maybe the viking heroes, and warforged.

Also, entirely non-Battle report related, fluff-wise, what is Myvra's relationship with other generals? I know Deliriant said realtively neutral, but she has to fight for something, and against someone, right?

Seeing her large amounts of wild, strange units, who are also insane, I think she would ally herself with Aquilla, and, at a strech, Valkrill.

I think Jandar would dislike her rouge status, and Vydar would most likely attempt to destroy the steampunk guys.

Yeah I don't know but looking at how soundly Gregor was chopping through those legionaries I think his mechanical strike could afford to go down to one automatic skull and could still be incredibly potent...
