Re: The Book of Gorgon - Design
Isn't it weird to you guys though that the power says all figures (DOs included) are affected, but there isn't an actual affect for them?

Re: The Book of Gorgon - Design
Yeah, there is a bit of a logic gap there, I suppose. Probably worth it to insert:
"all figures other than Destructible Objects" ... C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: The Book of Gorgon - Design
C3G INITIAL PLAYTEST FEEDBACK FORM
NAME OF THE TEST UNIT Gorgon - THEME TEST/ Check to see if there are any powers or stats on the test unit card that does not accurately reflect the theme or likeness of what the character would and could do. Also consider destructible objects, and whether or not this characters powers should affect them. PASS - MIRROR TEST/ Check to see if the unit were played against itself, if there would be any loops that would upset the balance of the Game. PASS - BONDING TEST/ Compare the unit card with all possible currently existing Bonding abilities to make sure there are no continual Bonding possibilities that do not stop appropriately or do not stop at all. This is to prevent loops in Bonding. PASS - SYNERGIES TEST/ Compare the unit card with all possible currently existing synergies to make sure there are no factors that could break the game by making any unit too powerful or too weak. PASS - POWER CHECK/ Consider the test unit and all existing units and all glyphs to compare to and check for any powers that could be over amplified and break the game. Each power must define when it takes place, who or what it affects, and What are the stipulations on the power if there are any. PASS, Destiny/Magneto 2 combo really helps him, but it didn't feel broken and it an entire armies worth of points to draft. - FUN TEST/ Consider whether or not the design was fun to play. PASS - FUN COMPETITIVE TEST/ Consider whether or not the design was fun to play against. PASS - DRAFTING TEST/ Consider whether or not this design is worth drafting. PASS - USAGE TEST/ Consider whether or not all of the powers on this card were used or at least usable. PASS - STRATEGY TEST/ Consider whether or not the design offers any real strategy or interesting tactics to the overall game. PASS Heavy Hitter or Mid-Level Hero Test - Does it pass, Yes or No? PASS - What should be the unit's point value? 300 feels good - Give a brief overview. All of these matches were really balanced and fun. Gorgon split the difference between all heroes except Supergirl who he is almost a perfect counter for with his special attack and defense power. Precognitive Strike comes at some really key moments in all of the matches where the opposing figure rolls like 4-5 skulls which would surely kill him and then they instead take a wound. It's pretty fun to see him go up against heavy hitters and at least stand a chance. Just for fun I played Gorgon against Superman v2. The second match he managed to put 6 wounds on Supes before going down. He's going to lose that match up 9/10 times, but he can certainly hold his own.
Spoiler Alert!
_____________________________________________________________ Squad Test - Does it pass, Yes or No? PASS - What should be the unit's point value? 300 felt fine - Give a brief overview. Gorgon's counter is definitely ranged figures. Agents spread out and were able to pick him off little by little. Gorgon was able to use his Stone Stare once in this match and took out 2 Agents with it. It's pretty difficult to line up. Considering dropping the instead of moving part of power and just make it instead of attacking. Map: X Marks The Spot (w/o buildings) Units: Gorgon vs SHIELD Agents x3 (sit one)
Spoiler Alert!
_____________________________________________________________ Squad Test - Does it pass, Yes or No? PASS - What should be the unit's point value? 280?? - Give a brief overview. Good attack rolls by SHIELD Agents put him away before he could do much damage. Again it was pretty difficult to use Stone Stare as the Agents spread out quickly before he could get in position. Didn't use the Stare this match. Map: X Marks The Spot (w/o buildings) Units: Gorgon vs SHIELD Agents x3 (sit one)
Spoiler Alert!
_____________________________________________________________ Army Test - Does it pass, Yes or No? PASS - What should be the unit's point value? 260??? - Give a brief overview. Gorgon didn't do so hot this game. He struggled against the ranged units and in the end only ended up taking out maybe 2 SHIELD Agents. He attack Black Widow several times, but couldn't get a wound in against CCE. Map: X Marks the Spot Units: Gorgon, Baron Strucker, Madame Hydra, Hydra Agents x3 (890) vs Nick Fury, Black Widow, Banshee, Shield Agents x3(900)
Spoiler Alert!
_____________________________________________________________ Army Test - Does it pass, Yes or No? PASS - What should be the unit's point value? 310 - Give a brief overview. Having Destiny boost Gorgon's abilities was a nice perk, but didn't feel overpowered at all. He tried Stone Gaze a few times and managed to pull it off once on Captain America which really helped his team get rid of the Avengers attack/defense bonus. He also kept Hercules occupied and wounded him a few times with Precog Strike and managed to finish him off after Magneto put the hurt on him. Map: X Marks the Spot Units: Gorgon, Magneto v2, Destiny, Toad, Quicksilver, Avalanche (1,185) vs Hercules, War Machine, Iron Fist, Cap Am (C3G), Bucky (1,190)
Spoiler Alert!

Re: The Book of Gorgon - Design
Completed HH and squad tests. I think 300 is a real possibility for him.
The only change I'm considering is on Stone Gaze changing the 'instead of moving and attacking' to just 'instead of attacking'. It's pretty difficult to use as is. It does help keep his cost in check though. Considering if he's boosted by Magneto/Destiny he only needs a 5 for squad figures and 17 for heroes. Would like others input on this. |

Re: The Book of Gorgon - Design
I'd say let him move. I guess I glazed over that he couldn't move previously. Both Sudema and Braxas get to move with their powers, and since he's not using his nasty attack, he's at least got to have a chance of pulling this off. It's not like it requires concentration or anything, he just has to remove his blindfold thing.
Also, if there is a chance, the opponent would be wise to get his figures engaged to Gorgon's teammates as this would help in sometimes including them in the gaze. Of course if Gorgon is sent in loaded with OMs and no close teammates, the opponent will have to figure something else out, like attack with range. Re: The Book of Gorgon - Design
Cool. Thanks Hahma. I think I'll rerun the squad tests to see how big of a difference it makes. Don't think it will be a blowout against SHIELD Agents, but will give Gorgon some more teeth for sure.

Re: The Book of Gorgon - Design
I agree with letting him move. He'll be a great anti-pod unit.
