I seriously can't read your post without laughing.
Now now ABOM, be gentle. He's young, he'll learn .
I know, but to place Paolini in the upper echelon of writers like Tolkien and C.S. Lewis is just plain insulting. I kinda enjoyed the Inheritence series, but there were many parts where I simply rolled my eyes at how he would copy off Tolkien and Star Wars.
But in Inheritance, Obi-Wan was his father, not Vader.

Good point. I used to really like the series, but I am pretty 'meh' about it now. I don't really even read fantasy literature any more, it is mostly poetry and classics like Kafka's Metamorphosis.

Re: Book: Inheritance Trilogy by Christopher Paolini - Book

I'm currently reading the 4th book and I found some HS references in it, there is a man named Tornac, and a Dragon named Mimring mentioned several times! [EDIT: sorry this has been mentioned before, please delete this post]

Re: Book: Inheritance Trilogy by Christopher Paolini - Book

Eh, I tried to read the 4th book, but it was very dry. Paolini (as he always does) wasted tons of space writing about trivial stuff with no importance. For example, he spent three chapters on a single childbirth, when he COULD have been developing the story.

Re: Book: Inheritance Trilogy by Christopher Paolini - Book

Paolini's work is not Tolkien by a long shot. That said, I actually enjoyed how he put depth and attention into stuff that really wouldn't be important except as part of who Eragon was and how he related to other characters.

And I still think the Inheritance series could make some pretty solid movies if someone was willing to go in and start over.
