Preferences for New Fan Fiction

I've begun development of Code 4114, which might be getting a new title. 50/50. Due to recent developments in my writing process, I am approximately half way through the development. Barring any issues (which should be dealt with by the new process), I anticipate it being fully developed by tonight or tomorrow.

It stands a good chance of being shortened (not cutting anything, just not as long as I thought it would be), which means once I get it written I should be able to move on to an origin story shortly thereafter.

Yeah I have the disturbing tendency to ask for feedback when I unconsciously have already decided.

There seemed to be a good amount of interest for an origin story, so I plan on doing one. I need to get Code 4114 out of the way first though, mainly because it's on my mind, but also because I need to use it to test some writing theories that I have out.

Probably in chapters. The development should be done by today or Tuesday at the latest. The writing will take longer, probably about a week or two depending on time and lack of distractions.

@TheAverageFan Good job on making the interview! I've been wondering how I can subtly suggest you for that for some time now. And thanks for the you-know-what at the end.

Keeping it vague on purpose. I prefer not to release details prematurely.

Speaking of which, I guess now is a good time and place to make an important* announcement: I have officially started working on my second novel: Thunderstorm II!

Since it's again based on a massive campaign scenario I already did years ago, the story is already there, I just need to write it all down in novelized form. As the AVGN would say "the only way to do it, is to F'ing do it".

It will be darker, more complex, and more character driven than the first. It will also not be finished for a long long time, but I thought I'd let you all know anyway. At the very least, it'll keep me from getting rusty writing-wise in the meantime.

Will we need to have read Thunderstorm to read this one? Being your first fiction, it lacks the depth and intrigue that your later writings have.

Pardon the brutal honesty. It's a good quality in a reviewer, right?

NONSENSE!!! Thunderstorm is by far my favorite of all my works for reasons readers will never understand!! (er, maybe that explains it...)

I dunno, it depends on how much you'd care about the spoilers in the first novel. It is a direct sequel. Part of me thinks Yes and part of me thinks No. We'll see when this new one is finished.

Perhaps one day I'll go back and see if I can make TS1 more easily penetrable to readers. I've learned a lot since then.

If by learned a lot you mean become probably the second best writer here, then yes.

I'm the first best. Obviously. *cough*

EDIT: On a more serious note, if I might make a recommendation: release it in chapters, once the whole thing is written. I've learned that having the whole thing laid out in front of you can be a bit of a turn off for some readers.

TGRF admits he would not have tried to write a story about a literature-loving orc, or been able to create the soulborg invasion of Valhalla quite so well. TGRF also admits that he has subsequently never tried, so the above claims can of course not be proven...
