Re: C3G Strategy/Competitive Discussion (Doctor Doom)
Hit your D20 rolls and he can be a one-man army. Pairs well with a few Doombots to keep him alive and a swarm of Moloids to keep him clean.
C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: C3G Strategy/Competitive Discussion (Doctor Doom)
Being able to Mystic Power Drain Event Heroes feels so onbrand for Doom, I love it. Outside of that, he's the kind of character that feels like he can always bring a game back. MPD lets him take on nearly anyone if your D20 is hot, and Pit Trap can keep those melee threats away, or get an autowund on a damaged enemy. It's kind of hard to talk about him competitively since he's dependent on the enemy team, but I doubt he ever feels like dead weight. Ruler synergies with Moloids are nice too.
I could see him pairing well with others that mess with enemy movement or lockdown nearby foes, like Jean Grey or Blob. Doom/Jean/Blob/Doombots/Moloids sounds like it might be a fairly tough to crack army. |

Re: C3G Strategy/Competitive Discussion (Doctor Doom)
Yeah, he may be the Unique Hero that feels most like an Event Hero, especially if you play him with Doombots to give him a bit more staying power.
Teaming him up with War-Machine and some throwers to try to take advantage of Elaborate Pit Trap could be an interesting thing to try, but I'm not convinced that a focus on Elaborate Pit Trap makes the most sense for him competitively. I view that more as a throw-in. C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Thoughts
I mean one of my thoughts is someone like Merlyn. 6 attack with double skulls? Yeah that's not terrifying or anything.

Re: C3G Strategy/Competitive Discussion (Doctor Doom)
Maybe Spawn to steal that super healing.
Doom, Merlyn, Spawn and fill in with Moloids? I think 14 would be 995. |

Re: C3G Strategy/Competitive Discussion (Doctor Doom)
Luckily, since he can only drain opponent's figures, he avoids a lot of the cheesiness about building armies around him.

Reading Comprehension
Oh yeah. Now I'm trying to think is there a way to give your opponent figures?

Re: C3G Strategy/Competitive Discussion (Doctor Doom)
You could go Amanda Waller and try to Suicide Squad your own troops, or use Creeper or Genis-Vell, but I don't think there's any generalist way to have your troops betray you.

Sounds like a Soundwarp design in the making, though.

Re: C3G Strategy/Competitive Discussion (Doctor Doom)
I really enjoy thinking of all the crazy things that can happen with Doom.
Thematically, I was wondering how Doom might feel he could use Reed's powers better than Reed. If he received Fantastic Leader 4 via MPD, then on Doom's next OM turn, he'd get to potentially take a turn with Kristoff twice, once before and after Doom, or first with up to 3 other Adventurers, then Doom, then Kristoff. Fantastic Leader 5! Trying to think of what a fun Doomtastic Five army would consist of without doubling up on any classic FF members. |
