Kolakoski’s Pre-SoV Custom Corner

I just did a write up of our President's Day Playtest session on our group thread linked below in my signature line. Check it out. Both customs played very well! Reika fought hard; her double distance attacks were very powerful, although she didn't get to Go For The Throat often. And Ravenwolf took down Nilfheim all by himself in two turns!

chas wrote a fine, full description of Monday's games featuring the above customs. They played pretty much as expected, in spite of less than optimum play on our parts. We all liked them and how they played, and I will submit them to the Pre-SoV Workshop soonest.

Rieka outclasses Kaemon Awa in multiple ways. That's not a good thing.

Ravenwolf has more potential in VC as a synergistic figure, but he's pretty clearly OP. Range 7 Attack 4 on a Roman-bonding-possible hero is nuts, even if his Lifense sucked, which is very much does not.

I dont think the initial idea for either unit is bad. Quite selfishly I want to use Reika's mini for something else lol.

Roman's are a tough one to have semi-bonding into with high range. Me Burq Sa is quite fantastic with them for a reason. Would spitball ideas with you if need be.

Oh, Ravenwolf died alright. But only after being swarmed by Knights of Weston after first killing Nilfheim in two turns by himself and being wounded by the dragon! I was busy fighting on another front, and left him hanging out by himself too long.

A 115 point figure that is a bonding target for Romans killing Nilf (185/245 in Delta!) in 2 turns by himself should be a sign that it's way too strong. Nilf isn't exactly squishy.

Out of curiosity, since I didnt pay attention to any posted playtests previously. Was Ravenwolf played in a competitive list suited for him?

Ravenwolf had incredible die luck against Nilfheim. He was playtested in and against armies designed by Kolakoski. The Roman army was very similar to the one you list. You can see the details in my signature thread below.

To clarify, Ravenwolf was tested in a Romans/Me-Burq-Sa/Marcus army, though without Raelin (RoTV). Him killing Nilfheim was the result of Ravenwolf rolling 4 out of 5 skulls on a ranged attack and Nilfheim whiffing; it's something that could be replicated with Kaemon Awa on an incredibly bad string of dice. Ravenwolf didn't even get the opportunity to use any of the actual abilities listed on the left side of his card for that one.

When Rieka the Wolf attacks an adjacent figure or destructible object, she may attack one additional time.

GOING FOR THE THROAT
If Rieka the Wolf wounds an adjacent opponent's figure with her first attack, and attacks that figure again, that figure rolls 2 fewer defense dice.

POINTS: 105

As Cornered is unlikely to happen, I dropped it, as suggested. Otherwise, nerfed her to avoid humiliating Kaemon Awa.

When rolling defense dice, if Ravenwolf rolls at least one shield, the most wounds Ravenwolf can take from this attack is one.

Similarly, for the same reason, nerfed Ravenwolf. The sculpt still, in my opinion, implies a real bow, and a Range of 7. Bash and Slash reasonably nerfed. I implied earlier that Ravenwolf might have Dwarven blood, given his sculpt's appearance, so One Shield Defense also seems reasonable.
