Re: The Book of Outer Space Terrain - VOTE for Initial Phase
I believe we're down to about 26 hours or A3n on the vote here.
C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: The Book of Outer Space Terrain - VOTE for Initial Phase
Just make an Astroid DO that is a 3 hex rock tile, if attacked and life is reduced to 0, then it is replaced with three 1 hex rock tiles that can then drift apart in different directions. Or 7 hex rock tile that becomes a 3 hex and two 2 hex rock tiles.

Re: The Book of Outer Space Terrain - VOTE for Initial Phase
Sure! Poll time:
OPTION A SPACE DRIFT
Spoiler Alert!
OPTION B GRAVITATIONAL PULL
Spoiler Alert!
OPTION C NEITHER
Spoiler Alert!
Poll will be open 24 hours at which point I will vote myself and call the poll. C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: The Book of Outer Space Terrain - PUBLIC OPINION POLL
I don't care and will let playtesting decide.

Re: The Book of Outer Space Terrain - PUBLIC OPINION POLL
Fwiw, as someone who's done some initial playing with this (ran two 1,000 point tests on an all Cosmos/Asteroid map) just to feel some things out, A3n's stated concern about people just moving it back and forth isn't a real issue, IMO, just because figures, you know, move during the round. So the state of play isn't the same after a round of that. I don't think the yo-yo concern is really there.

Re: The Book of Outer Space Terrain - PUBLIC OPINION POLL
Slight preference for A - Space drift, but I haven't been in here much, excited to see how this turns out

Re: The Book of Outer Space Terrain - PUBLIC OPINION POLL
Don't have a strong preference either without having actually seen them in play, it's just theoryscape at this point. I do share A3n's concern about players just moving the same piece back and forth though. I could certainly see that happen under the right map build conditions. Maybe just add in a line to Space Drift preventing either player from moving an object back to the same space it occupied the previous round.

Re: The Book of Outer Space Terrain - PUBLIC OPINION POLL
I will offer a third option.
Take a 7 hexer to use as a compass and orient it with the space map. Then designate the outer hexes 1-6. Now you can randomize direction with a d6. Alternatively you designate them 1-3, 4-6, 7-9 etc. and then 19-20 is player's choice for a d20 version. Also note that this could be a really useful tool for AI rules or scatter affects. |

Re: The Book of Outer Space Terrain - PUBLIC OPINION POLL
I (obviously) am for B, and another reason is A isn't space drift. if an object were drifting in space then why would it all of a sudden start drifting in another direction? There is just no thematic sense there. Also with gravitational pull the meteors are more likely to form fixed terrain. These reasons are also applicable to
@Tornado
's option above.
