For the Marro vibe, how about:

Tul-Bak-Ra: 130
Drones x5: 250
Stingers x2: 120
Total, 500pts, 22 hexes.

That'd be fun with Dividers in place of the Drones too, if you can get your hands on some.

Anything else you're in the mood for? I'm up for some army building as a proxy for actually being able to go (and then will have plenty of options if I can make it).
Yeah I would appreciate that I have been getting in to my units. I just found a list that was Braxis and a haunt of phantom warriors.

I love Braxas. Not eligible here, but if it were I'd be tempted by my very first tournament army:

Braxas: 210
Venom: 150
Krav Maga Agents: 100
Rats x1: 40
Total: 500pts, 10 hexes.

Cyprien in for Venom could work similarly.

You may borrow some of my pieces I will be right there anyway. I have mentioned in the OP that I will bring some pre mades in case some come with nothing but other than those I have at least 1 of every set including dividers. I also have 3 marro drones. One of the pre made armies I had is this:

Tul-Bak-Ra: 130
Drones x3: 150
M Warriors: 50
Dividers: 50
AE: 110
Isamu: 10
Total: 500pts, 22 hexes

These are just from things I have so I can't go x5 drones as Ollie suggested but it's as close as I can get. Thought the extra range with the AE can help as well. I also have a few more pre mades that I felt were semi competitive but could be made better like this example just given.

But if you want to borrow some pieces that can be arranged.

Hey welcome! That's all good it's a busy time. I'll put you on the list for the next one. Was planning another for early or late summer. Stay Tuned!

I have several armies I'm considering. Each include a unit that's not seen very much in competitive play.

I look forward to what you and others bring as I already know what my friends will bring, but am not allowing them to play each other until the date. I think it'll be very interesting.

Re: New England Revival - Providence - 3-31-18

Hey all. Just about a week away and things are looking good! We have a great turnout so far and because of such I now will request one attendee to bring a map. I would much rather have a spare map sit there than extra people hanging around not having as much fun as the rest.

Map Requirements:
Perks:
  • I will pay the entry fee of the attendee that brings a map.

  • You get to be a critical part of the fun by providing a map for those that might not be able to play otherwise.
Either PM me your proposal or respond here. Either bring the map as a whole or we can build it there. I will iron out any details to whomever brings the map.

Cheers.

Re: New England Revival - Providence - 3-31-18

I'm on the fence, but will probably not be able to make it this time. I really want to bring my son--pretty sure that there were 5 year olds rolling dice and running around the first time I went to a tournament/game day, but he's just not that into it yet.

Now playing with toy cars on Heroscape tiles... he loves that and can't get enough of it.

Regardless, thankful that you are organizing, and I do hope to make it out at some point. I have not played in quite a long time, but I always want to.

I need you to be awesome. Can you be awesome?

Thanks to AmishBurrito for a promo code and Gulp for sending wound markers!

No problem, Its a rough time to pick, sandwiched in-between Good Friday and Easter. I'm just poking the bear and will have another event either start or end of summer, haven't decided yet. I will keep you in the loop.

The next location I have on my radar is this so even if your son plays or not there has got to be something there for him. Location not confirmed just floating some thoughts. Take care and happy Easter.

Interesting!

Of course, I'd prefer there be nothing else for him to do so he stays engaged with the game, but having something else to do will probably keep him happier. :P

They have a pretty good set up. Although there are many other games there to play they are all on the back wall with Nerf stuff in the way back. Continuing engagement would all come down to me as a host by then, but if he or any others want to take a break from Heroscape by all means. This game is very fun in my personal opinion but for new players I tend to try to not beat a dead horse. Coming back, taking a break then coming back again has worked out well for me and others.
