But yeah, once again, I don't know why I'm debating politics on the internet. Even in person, you won't change many people's minds. I saw people suggesting in this very thread that Palin looks a bit like Tina Fey. What a great impression! Thanks, Hahma. |

Re: Race for the presidency political discussion thread
Can someone explain why I should not be concerned that Obama has ties to these guys.
William C. Ayers, a member of the Weathermen terrorist group which sought to overthrow of the U.S. government and took responsibility for bombing the U.S. Capitol in 1971. Tony Rezko - shady land deals with Obama How do you put a positive spin on these two guys that Obama has been really tight with. And why does the media not go nuts over this? Just think if Palin was associated with these two. |

Re: Race for the presidency political discussion thread
If a man that has terrorist ties can rise to possibly occupy the highest office in our country and not be exposed... Werll, that would mean that our intelegence agencies must be so abysmal, and inept that we might as well throw in the towel. I still can't believe all the idiots who think Obama has some shady connection to terrorist organizations that threatens America's security. You don't think that he would have been found out by now?

Can we drop the unsubstantiated and petty personal attacks and focus on the issues? I would have thought that the woeful economic news over the last couple of days would have helped shape the current political debate, but I guess its more fun (easier?) to throw stones and break windows than it is to roll up your sleeves and help build things correct. I for one am watching my retirement accounts and home value fall every day. I dont have time for any more Rush Limbaugh nonsense. |

From 1973 - Present = 36 years. 24 of the last 36 years = Republican Presidents. (All opposed abortion) Today, Abortion = Still Legal A Republican presidential candidate saying "I am against abortion" is just like them saying "I am for the family". It is all just political rhetoric designed to ignite an emotional response. An emotional response that will get you off your couch and in the voting booth and make sure your hanging chad leans to the right. Don't get me wrong now, both side are looking to push those emotional buttons of yours and get you out and voting their way. It's just that I hear so many people who use the fact that Republicans are against abortion as a main stay in their reasoning behind voting for them as president. Republican presidents have done very little to overturn Roe vs Wade. Reagan made some appointments, but these appointments have upheld Roe vs Wade. The best 24 of the last 36 years has gotten you is some limitations, not an overturned ruling. My point? Vote for the guy who is going to help our economical situation. Vote for the guy who is going to help solve our troubles in the middle east. Vote for the guy who is going to help us be self reliant for our energy needs. I don't care if you vote Republican or Democrat. But don't vote for a guy just because he says he's against abortion. I am perfectly willing to bet a master set that if McCain is elected, after 4 years, abortions will still be legal. Bannister That can only mean one thing. And I don't know what it is. |

Re: Race for the presidency political discussion thread
I am all for understanding the issues War Energy Economy Jobs Government spending Abortion I have read both sides of each of these issues and understand where each candidate stands on them. Right now my question is about something else. This is a simple question. What are any positive explanations as to why Obama would have the bad judgement as to have ties to Tony Rezko and William Ayers The answer to this question does not solve the worlds problems. The answer to this question does not mean McCain does not have his own skeletons. Right now this is just one question of many that needs to be asked. If you have a answer that would be great. If you don't, no need to create answers to other issues. I am just curious if anyone can answer this one. The reason it is important to address this question is that Obama seems to have a halo over his head and can do nothing wrong. Yet he is not much different than any other politician. |

Re: Race for the presidency political discussion thread
1. Obama is Muslim like I'm a giraffe.
2. Obama says the pledge, and leads audiences in it. 3. Obama wears a flag lapel pin, even though that has NOTHING to do with patriotism. 4. Obama is just as likely to change abortion laws as McCain, which is to say not at all. Holylink, Rush Limbaugh has a tinfoil hat with your name on it. He made it while he was in rehab. http://drakesflames.blogspot.com Drake's Flames, my crassly opinionated game review site. Updates three times a week. |
