Start of the game with 6 shadow tiles. Before moving The Darkness, you may place a shadow tile onto a land space within 6 spaces of The Darkness. When The Darkness attacks an adjacent figure from a shadow tile, add 2 to his attack.

UNLEASH THE DARKNESS
After attacking with a normal attack, if The Darkness inflicted any wounds you may choose up to 3 shadow spaces within 6 spaces of The Darkness. Roll one unblockable attack die against all enemy figures on or within 1 space of the chosen spaces. You cannot roll for the same figure more than once.

SHADOW SIPHON
Once per round if The Darkness ends his turn on or within one space of a shadow tile, you may roll 1 combat die plus one additional die for each shadow space within 2 spaces of The Darkness. For each skull rolled remove one Wound Marker from this card.

I put all the ranges in red there. I'd support going base range up to 6 and range for unblockables up to 2 to match Shadow Siphon, so that 6 and 2 were the only real ranges. The bigger range for Unleash the Darkness shouldn't be a huge deal since you max out at one roll per figure anyway.

I have got a few games in. Looking pretty good. One more build I want to try.
Shadow Lass is pretty interesting combo as she can create like 19 shadow spaces in one turn. Would be cool if Darkness did not the get the negatives from her shadows but that would probably be too good and make her the go to pairing.

Darkness takes 4 wounds round 1 and then one punches Carol at the top of round 2. Things turn quick after that but if Darkness loses initiative that could have easily went the other way.

Was probably a little too aggressive with Ghidorah here, getting into some bad positions where the dice started to stack up.
Ghidorah really hates losing clear sight.

Played it a little safer this time with Ghidorah. Was able to avoid being on low ground and in the negative shadows and most importantly kept his head.

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: I think he is right there. He is has some solid potential and is effective at different ranges. He has a glass jaw and needs protection, especially early. Once he gets shadows out his healing helps but you have to be strategic as it is once per round.

GENERAL THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT: Fun power set. He will have a huge target on him early but if he survives can be a nightmare to take down in the endgame. The one army I did not try was a Gundam build. Feels like it would be a great way to protect Darkness while getting those shadow tiles out. Shadow Lass is an interesting pairing as she gets out a ton of shadows for Unleash and Siphon. Would be really nasty against a squad style army. The Civilians are there to act as shields but also for Darkness to attack so he can use Unleash.
