Fun with Acrylic

I recently got some Acrylic sheets that can very easily be made into custom terrain if cut with a laser engraver. Acrylic is a hard, clear plastic that can shatter if enough force is applyed, but it gets harder to shatter in small bits like a Heroscape water tile. I have great expectations of what i can do with this stuff. When school starts back up for me again, I will use our tech wing's Engraver. I have already used this machine to cut out the sheets for a school project.

Here are the sheets i have, even though they are kind of small...

I was thinking about making 4 bases for a Heroclix custom I have, the sheets are a tad bit small for a base but i can compensate.

I was also thinking of making water tile sized tiles and making blood tiles like these: http://www.heroscapers.com/community...&postcount=201

Ill get back to you all on this...

Re: Fun with Acrylic

I don't know how you plan to use acrylic to make bases, but I think that making liquid tiles out of it would be sweet, if you can get the pattern right. Good luck!

The cool thing with laser engravers is that you can cut things and engrave images on things too!

Re: Fun with Acrylic

srry for double post....

I am kind of leaning for liquid terrain, but i would need a life size graphic of a water tile (Im looking for a detailed one with the so they can interlock) in order to make it work, otherwise they would seperate with ease... anybody know where i could find one?

I could possibly make 2 of the things in the poll...
That might actually work, but as I and many people say, more of one thing is better.(like Common Squads)

Re: Fun with Acrylic

I really like the idea of getting acrylic sheats. Id go with the liquid terrain becuase i dont know about you but the first thing I look at on a Heroscape map is the water section.

Re: Fun with Acrylic

I think you should make 4 half of that, so you can place it against a wall. Also, how do you plan to put that on a map?

I plan to set the thing down on top of the creases on a 7 hex peice so the middle tile will be the door threw the teleporter.
