Whenever a special power on an Army Card refers to a Jungle Piece, it refers to Tree Golems as well.

THORNY BARK 15
You may roll the 20-sided die immediately after a figure:
• moves onto a space adjacent to a Tree Golem;
• ends its movement on a space adjacent to a Tree Golem; or
• is attacked by a Tree Golem's normal attack and at least 1 skull is rolled.
If you roll 15 or higher, that figure receives a wound. Tree Golems may not roll the 20-sided die against the same figure more than once a turn.

PLANT REGROWTH 15
For the entire game, at the end of each round, you may roll the 20-sided die once for each destroyed Tree Golem on this card. If you roll 15 or higher, place a Tree Golem on any empty space adjacent to a figure you control with the Plant Animation special power, if possible.

Painting them is pretty simple. They start out all green like this:


And then you just earthen them up a bit with some earthly tones(shades of browns, greens, and grey). No right or wrong way to do it.

I meant to comment, I don't know if the Tree name totally makes sense here? As in, I keep seeing this thread and thinking it's a DO.

These guys look very stout and protector-ish, so maybe they're Thorny Guardians or something? I like the Thorny name to keep them different from the Plant Monsters or whatever we end up calling the other design.

Pretty even matchup, with the edge going to the Fighters. The Thorny Trees take up some turns to get into place without any bonders to move them, and their roll isn't the easiest to hit. However, their rolls trigger fairly often against melee units, so they can add up.

Gorgon could take the Trees out with ease, but he paid for it most turns by starting adjacent to them. They were hitting their 15+ at a higher average, which helped them.

Martian Manhunter was great for moving 2-3 trees in per turn. Unfortunately once the enemy got to him and dropped him, the trees couldn't keep up with the damage output of Psylocke and Phoenix.

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY:
They're probably a little overcosted as-is, but that's ok. They're intended to absorb some of the points for the eventual Ivy III to allow them to be a better package. They're still usable with the previous 2 Ivy's, they just require their own turns to get into place. Figure movers, both allies or enemies, could also do well with them as a screen/swarm, but from what I experienced is the rolls are by no means easy to hit, and once the centerpiece(thrower) gets taken down, they don't make for the best performing leftover army.
