Buying a car
Hey guys, as some of you know I just took driver's ed. Soon I will be able to drive by myself. I am looking for a car and wanted opinions on good, cheap, but not ugly cars. Thanks in advance.

Re: Buying a car
If you want a good car, it won't be cheap nor ugly
If you want a cheap car, it will be ugly but not good If you want a not ugly car, it won't be cheap nor good, necessarily. |

Re: Buying a car
Take someone with you who knows automobiles and is good with first impressions about cars. Then make sure you test drive it. Buy used. And for your first car, it really doesnt matter what it looks like, go for price rather than looks, though I am sure you can find a nice looking one if you look hard enough for a cheap price. I had a beater for my first car and it didnt matter what it looked like because it was a car, and I had my freedom. Well freedom to run errands for my parents...

Re: Buying a car
Precisely. Don't be picky about your first car, or you'll never find one.
This is what I drive (until it either fails on me, or I get my El Camino on the road): |

Re: Buying a car
I'm not saying it has to be a sexy car. I just don't want it to be a rust bucket.

Re: Buying a car
Your best bet will be to find a clean used Honda Civic. Good gas mileage and they last forever if you take care of them. If you can get a CRV you will get a little less on the gas mileage but still they will run forever...(275000+ miles on my current one)

Re: Buying a car
That is what my wife drives, a Grand Marquis, and she loves it. I guess she likes steering the big boats around trying to find tight parking. I prefer the smaller economy cars with nice control and I dont feel as claustrophobic when going through crowded areas. And we are not saying rust bucket, Taelord, just dont be too picky and go for affordability versus sexy.

Re: Buying a car
I have no problem with a small economy car. In fact I was hoping you guys would give me ideas like this.
