Re: Concerts you have attended
Ok, so I went camping with a group from church this weekend at clay's park in Canal Fulton, OH, and we noticed a bunch of hippies (yes, not hipsters) walking around the park, some offering us "ganja treats" and "nuggets" (a new term for me) or just randomly coming to our campsite to talk. There was a small stage aground the corner from our campsite that played ALL night long a combo of folk, jamband, reggae, etc. Checked out one band that sounded good (Blue Moon Soup) and everyone in the audience was drunk and/or high. Then last night went to main stage where ekoostik hookah played and we learned this was the infimous Hookaville we were at, one of the the biggest jam band/hippie fests in the midwest (google them if you so desire). The band was good (imagine Grateful Dead + DMB) until they started getting into trippy psychadelic rock and we left with some bad vibes. Ironic in that I went almost once a year to the same place to see the Alive festival, one of the bigger CCM fests where I have seen a hundred or more christian bands play. Alive festival moved to a new park and Hookahville I guess moved their this year.
Other than some christian fests at arena's, most of the concerts I have seen are of the alternative/indie variety at small clubs, mostly local/regional bands. When I lived in Akron, there was this club called the lime spider that held a max of 200 people and I saw about 2-3 shows a month there. Plus a lot of my friends are in bands, so if you count a "concert" as people getting played to play a venue and at least a couple people watching, I have probably seen about 500+ concerts (1000 differnt bands as concerts have 2-20 bands, but saw a lot of people more than onece), but 99% of the bands you wouldn't recognize (90% if you are into Chrstian bands). My favorite concerts are ska bands couse I like skanking, but after Five Iron, the Supertones, and No Doubt broke up, I haven't been to much ska, although some reggae such as John Browns Body can fit the bill. Other than that MuteMath, Jars of Clay, and Weird Al tops my list of fav concerts. Shameless promotion of friends bands I have seen dozens of times: Bethesda (who have got great reviews at SXSW and Bonnaroo among others) and the Chardon Polka Band.com/ (who I saw open for Weird Al and Polka Floyd) C3V/SoV cards @ 3/page PDF / LeftOn4ya's Customs (including Jurassic World) / Competitive Unit Alters / New? Re: Concerts you have attended
Sorry for the thread revive, but over the past several years I've got to experience quite a few amazing concerts. It's been awesome getting to see live performances, and it adds so much to your music.
My first real show. I've since moved to WAY more aggressive music, but this was still entertaining: Art of Dying Halestorm Theory of a Deadman Skillet Stone Sour First real metal concert: Iwrestledabearonce The Ghost Inside Of Mice & Men As I Lay Dying First crowd surfing experience! Reflections Silverstein I, The Breather Texas In July August Burns Red Hands down one of the best concerts I've ever seen: Sylosis Hatebreed In Flames Lamb of God First show I saw with my fellow metalhead brother: The Chariot For Today The Devil Wears Prada As I Lay Dying (right before the fiasco with Tim Lambesis) Second time seeing LoG: Huntress Testament Killswitch Engage Lamb of God And finally, my first death metal show. This ranks as one of the best concerts I have ever been to: Skeletonwitch Enslaved Amon Amarth The last one was awesome too because a local brewing company made a special beer for the occasion. It was a delicious IPA called "The Asator" in honor of Amon Amarth's brvtal song. It's been incredible getting to experience bands on this level, and moshing has since become one of the things I most look forward to at shows. \m/ It's not whether you win or lose. It's having the 4th Massachusetts Line that counts! I see nothing, I hear nothing, and I know NOTHING!--Sgt. Shultz, Hogan's Heroes My custom terrain |

Buck Cherry last Friday at an ultra small venue. Fun, still recovering.

Re: Concerts you have attended
Just got home a little while ago from the 21 Pilots concert at the United Center in Chicago. My wife and I took our 13 (14 next month) year old twin daughters to their first concert to see their favorite band. They loved it beyond belief and I have to say that it was a fantastic show. Up there as one of the best performances I have ever seen.
