Star Wars Legion
Fantasy Flight just announced a new Star Wars minis game:
And here's a video of someone painting one of the minis. The Luke mini is apparently 35mm from foot to head (according to the comments), which I think would put him very comparable to a Medium-5 Heroscape unit. Anyone at GenCon, check it out. I probably won't buy in to this. Got enough stuff at the moment. Quote:

Re: Star Wars Legion
I'm getting this game. I'm not a total Star Wars geek, but I like it well enough and I like tabletop miniatures games. There are several people in my game group that would play this. I already have various pieces of terrain that I can use.

Re: Star Wars Legion
I'm also super interested in this one. I was already debating using Imperial Assault Skirmish cards and figures with a measuring system in inches instead of spaces. It would be interesting to see how much like the Imperial Assault Skirmish it will be. There are also no elevated terrain rules for Imperial Assault as well. It would be super easy to use other table top terrain for this game too. Considering I have been building quite a bit of it for frostgrave anyways. I also have an entire box of sci fi terrain I made already as well. When is it coming out for sale anyway?

Re: Star Wars Legion
I have never played ImpAss skirmish so I can't comment on that. But Legion seems to have squads with a leader and you move the leader, then you bring the rest of the squad with them and in coherency of a certain distance. I believe you roll dice for each squad member based on their weapons.
As far as when it will come in, a buddy of mine that knows a bit about FFG, says it's due out at the end of the year. Rune Wars was a few months later than expected, so my buddy figures that anywhere between December and February for Star Wars Legion. I'm sure there is going to be an expansion release system similar to X-Wing and Armada. From the example from a sub-link of the link I posted above, it looks like the Empire will have Vader, 2 speeder bike that will likely be considered a unit, and two 7 man units of Stormtroopers for a total of 17. So that leaves Luke, Rebel on an AT-RT and 14 other rebel soldiers. Though in some examples, it looked like the Rebels were in units of 4. But who knows for sure. Edit: My buddy that talked to the guys at FFG at GenCon told me last night that the squads were going to be a certain size, maybe 5 or 6 and that there will be extra guys to swap in. So maybe swap in a rocket launcher guy and remove a regular blaster guy or something like that. Re: Star Wars Legion
The more I think about this game, the more I want to pick it up. It would be worth getting the core box alone just to get in on the rules and game mechanics. I could use my other figurines as additional units. This looks pretty fun, especially since I have really enjoyed building miniatures terrain lately.

Re: Star Wars Legion
Good idea Trex. Getting the rulebook, movement templates, dice etc will be necessary to play the system, so adding your own existing figure should be fine. I don't know what size yours are but the Legion ones are around 35mm.
Me and at least 2 others are getting core sets, so that's a lot of basic troops for nice size battles. Then of course there will be plenty of neat expansions. The thing that makes this a different enough system for me to want to get in on, is the use of equipment cards and upgrades etc, like with X-Wing and Armada. So those upgrades will count against the points allowed for your army. Re: Star Wars Legion
Some of the folks from Beasts of War have a cool discussion about Legion.
