Re: The Book of Matter-Eater Lad
OK, playing this through:
Frost Giant successfully uses Freezing Touch on Thor. Ice Rock moves from card to battlefield. Thor placed on Frost Giant's card. Matter-Eater Lad uses Matter Eater to remove Ice Rock DO from game. End of round, blank is rolled for Thor, destroy the Ice Rock. So the Ice Rock that was removed from the game (maybe we specify that in the Matter Eater power) cannot be destroyed, so Thor remains on Frost Giant's card, adding a wound at the end of each round when a skull is rolled. If everyone's OK with that tortuous way to end a game... Of course, the easy solution is to just destroy MEL before Frost Giant uses Freezing Touch. I agree with him not being able to eat equipped glyphs. Other glyphs: Temporal Displacement--Since Chronos gets to remove the glyph and return to the battlefield "immediately" after the opponent reveals an Order Marker, Matter-Eater Lad would not have an opportunity to eat this glyph and prevent Chronos from returning to the game. MEL would, however, be able to chew on one that Booster Gold placed. Cosmic Control Rod--It would almost be worth the 60 points to draft MEL against Annihilus to cause him an auto-wound each round after MEL eats this glyph. Bifrost--Heimdall loses his teleportation power. Casket of Ancient Winters--terrain returns to normal. E-Ray--if Gorilla Marker already on a figure's card, the figure will remain a Simian for the game (unless Zatanna removes the marker). Inifinity Gauntlet--now it would really stink if MEL ate this one after some of the Gems were added to it. Neutralizer--since the marker is returned to the card at the end of the round, and the glyph (and the card) is out of the game after MEL munches it, the marker would leave the game as well. I think we're good to go with the FAQs as written. There is one other figure that would be affected by a glyph being eaten, but it is not game-breaking, and actually benefits the figure. |

Re: The Book of Matter-Eater Lad
Good calls all around. I agree with your assessments. The Cosmic Control Rod example alone is a reason he should definitely not be allowed to eat equipped glyphs.

Re: The Book of Matter-Eater Lad
MEL was played this weekend with the gaming group. He ate the Time Bomb, a Battlement, and a tree! He also threatened to eat Apocalypse's glyphs but was quickly destroyed their after. The Legionnaires, and the Horsemen both lost the game (3 player) but what a blast!

Speaking of ... watch your table around him! He's a hungry little guy. C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: The Book of Matter-Eater Lad
Has this been in need of an art update since 2015?
@quozl
alerted me to the card and SP being different for his signature power.
