Or luckier D20 rolls! Batman can take out Hulk one-on-one, but you'd better have some super hot D20s!

I rolled for Evasive Strike 3-5 times and didn't get it once. I made a strategic error in that game--I boom-tubed my vigilantes up to my opponent's start zone, where I was admittedly able to grab height, but I was also within reach of Red Skull's Cosmic Cube and plenty of retaliation from the likes of Hulk, Wolverine, Sabretooth, and Captain America. If I could go back I would play more defensively and make them come to us. I also would have spent more focus trying to take down Red Skull earlier.
Your custom probably has too much Defense.

Yeah, that sounds like a group of nasty, nasty figures for Vigilantes to face off against!

As for Batman, he pretty much lives or dies with the D20, especially against heavy hitters.

And any sort of autowounds will completely cripple him. Nine times out of ten he's best against squads or one-on-one vs. similarly-sized heroes.

Yeah, this is really "Batman in Gotham" IMO, whereas Batman (II) is more built to take on Justice League villains.

Long range is also nasty against Batman. I remember in the early days how Green Arrow was one guy that could put Bats in his place by being outside Evasive Strike range. I also remember games where Evasive Strike was putting all kinds of wounds on opponents within 5 spaces. That was a first time that a defensive power worked vs. both a normal and special attack, so it was pretty special at the time.

Batman is nasty vs. squaddies with a range of 5 or less, and against mid-level heroes that he can fight melee against.

Based on the utility glyph of bat grapple I believe the card is correct here. He shouldn't take LEA.
