Northern Keep Armies?

Well met!

On Friday, the Gang of Four will be playing on the following map, in a scenario and on a map of Sherman Davies' design:


The Northern Keep

This is what I've whipped up so far - a scenario for four players in two teams, continuing the story of Vydar's secession from the alliance. The idea is that the remaining members of the alliance (Jandar, Ullar, Einar and Aquilla) have decided to retrieve some important maps that were being held by Vydar in one of his keeps. It is a standard capture the flag game in which the allied forces must enter the keep, seize the maps (a Treasure Glyph) and exit the board through one of their original start zones. The airspace over the keep is guarded by Microcorp air drones though, so flying is dangerous - any allied figure that begins to fly will take a leaving engagement strike to represent being shot at by the drones.

Each of the four players can draft an army consisting of 500 points. Allied players (Team 1) draft from Jandar, Ullar, Einar or Aquilla. Vydar players (Team 2) can draft from Vydar, Utgar or Valkrill. Each team has a total of 24 start zone spaces. Team members can share unused points or start zone spaces with their teammates.

If I were on team 1, I would be very tempted to draft monks for their ability to get over the wall without triggering the drone strike. Don't know how effective that would be but it would be thematically quite fun.

Team two can essentially use any of the ranged pods available to them and likely be just fine.

Well obvious picks would be any unit that could get over the walls without triggering the microcorp drones attack. Either Sgt. Drake would be a good choice. Jotun would also be interesting because he can throw his own units over the wall and would be good at destroying the door.

Team 1a is a mixed bag of heroes who can hop jump and leap to grab the glyph or snipe enemies. Team 1b is a crazy send them in and summon them out, with some hope of negating Braxas or Q9/10 should they appear.

Team 2 is because I want theme when I have the castle, and picturing the meeting between Vydar's professional agents and Utgar's feral wolves has a really great feel. Of course the mindflayer goes along to keep everything running smoothly... Fun bunch of order marker and movement denying stuff, and the Werewolf Lord could get lucky making a hero drop the glyph.

Utgar's Team:
Taelord 180
2x Minions of Utgar 400
2x Deathreavers 480
Marcu 500

Surround the maps with Deathreavers (so that opponent's will have to fight their way through Deathreavers to get to the map--and then will have to risk disengagement attacks to escape).

Put all your Order Markers on the Minions. With Taelord and height they get 3 attacks of 4 DOUBLED every turn. It's almost unfair.
