Yes, I'm hoping it's going to be another classic like The Princess Bride.
Hoping, anyway... |

It looks pretty good, though I agree it's not a good role for Claire Danes (she does work in certain types of roles, though really it's just one role and this one is not it). Robert De Niro, however, looks like he's going to steal the whole movie and kick complete butt like he always does. I don't see much comparison to Princess Bride though as it doesn't seem to be the same kind of lighthearted romantic adventure comedy. It looks more like a light adventure movie ala Willow or Pirates of the Carribean to me.

That looks pretty neat. I don't see the problem with Claire Danes, at least not from the trailer. I can understand someone just plain not liking her though; I can't really stand Angelina Jolie...its just a personal thing I guess.
De Niro and Pfiefer look pretty cool to me. You can't get much cooler than an airship pirate (and this coming from a ninja!). ![]() |

I saw a trailer for this before "Fracture" the other night. It looked like it walks the razor's edge between "potentially glorious" and "potentially horrific." In other words a movie that could be hit with a feather and knocked either way. I'm hoping it's good, as I enjoyed the book. The trailer made it hard to determine what the final quality of the movie would be though. A mixed bag.
De Niro has been in some complete and total crap...Rocky and Bullwinkle, anybody? So his presence alone is not enough to warrant seeing it. Michele Pfeiffer has also been in some real crap, but adding her to the mix with De Niro does make me intrigued. Add in Ricky Gervais and the cast looks promising. Claire Danes, I agree, is not my cup of tea and is in fact a point against the movie in my book, but I think this is the type of role she could potentially pull off. Potentially. The only thing I've ever liked her in was Romeo and Juliet. |
