ULTIMATE SACRIFICE
If a friendly figure within 4 clear sight spaces of Spider-Man would receive one or more wounds from an enemy figure's attack, if possible, Spider-Man may use Swing Line to move adjacent to that figure. If he does, Spider-Man must receive those wounds instead.

STEP UP
When Spider-Man or a figure you control within 4 clear sight spaces of Spider-Man receives one or more wounds from an enemy figure's attack, or the Ultimate Sacrifice special power, during your next player turn, you may add 2 to Spider-Man's Attack number while attacking that opponent's figure with an adjacent normal attack.

SWING LINE 4
Instead of his normal move, Spider-Man may move up to 4 spaces with Swing Line. When moving with Swing Line, Spider-Man has the Flying special power, but may not move up or down more than 40 levels in a single swing, and will not take any leaving engagement attacks.

I’d “receives one or more wounds from an enemy figure’s attack or the Ultimate Sacrifice special power” in Step Up, since the intent is for Spidey to boost himself with Ultimate Sacrifice.

It’s currently kinda muddied. Traditionally, I’m pretty sure what a power like Ultimate Sacrifice actually does is ignore the wounds the original figure would recieve, then inflicts the same number of wounds on Spidey. The “source” of the wounds Spidey receives is the Ultimate Sacrifice special power, not the attack.

The use of the phrase “those wounds” makes it confusing, because it’s instead implied that it’s the same wounds from the attack that get shunted over to Spidey. So does stuff like Red Skull I’s Master Motivator count as having inflicted wounds with an attack, even if those wounds are shunted somewhere else by a special power? It’s something that came up a few times while I was playing, especially with Darkness.

Hmm, with him receiving "those wounds" it does scan to me as him taking wounds from the attack. Maybe it needs to be spelled out as "must receive the wounds from the attack instead"?

Probably want to be consistent with enemy figure's in both abilities, rather than using opponent's in one of them.

Is the preferred phrasing enemy figures, and not opponent's?

The biggest thing is consistency. I think either is acceptable, just weird to go one way in one and the other way in the other.
