Glyph Bio - There are many pathways in the Universe, some known and many unknown. And in our Universe there are "points" in time and space where history repeats itself and matter is consumed and displaced. Some of these pathways are called black holes, worm holes, or portals, and though we are all susceptible to the effects of these pathways, there are also some who have learned to manifest them and even control them.

• Permanent Glyph: The power of each permanent Glyph is in effect for as long as a figure is standing on it.

-Rulings and Clarifications-

• Q - When a special power like Jean Grey's Telekinesis or Magneto's throw "places" my figure on this Glyph, can I immediately use this power?
• A - The official ruling for throwing powers and the like is that the word "place" is the same as the word "move". So when Magneto (or whoever) throws your figure and places it on this glyph, your figure has moved on to it, and because it is a Permanent Glyph, your figure must stop here on it. That means that Yes, you may immediately use this power. This is also relevant to figures like Chronos who will have powers that allow him to be "placed" on this Glyph.

• Q - If my figure starts its turn occupying this Glyph, do I have to move off of this Glyph and then move back onto it to use its power?
• A - The official ruling for moving 0 spaces is that a move of 0 is still a move. You do not have to move off of the Glyph to use its power if you moved 0+ spaces and stopped on the Glyph.

When one of your figures ends its move here, you may choose 1 small or medium figure within 4 clear sight spaces of the figure occupying this glyph. Place the chosen figure on an unoccupied space within 4 clear sight spaces of the figure occupying this glyph. A figure moved by the Glyph of Temporal Displacement will not take any leaving engagement attacks.

I would say that Chronos receives the benefit.

I like that this is a normal glyph with a normal power, and that Chronos just reacts with it in a special way. Really good/neat/clean approach here.

My only concern here is that because Chronos starts with one, and this glyph is going into our glyph pool, there could still end up being more than one on the battlefield in which Superman and Hulk could never beat Chronos one on one, or even wound him.

Couldn't work because you & your opponent are allowed the same figure, then who gets the glyph?

I think it would have to be tested, as there might not be an issue here. Basically we need to run it with 2 Chronos on the same team (we'll assume one of them is somebody else with the same mechanic) & one decent opponent. My thinking is that the OM aspect is also going to come into play as you can only place the glyph when it's that figures turn so the opponent should be able to attack one & force them to move near each other & use up their glyphs & then keep attacking the one without OM. Something like that is going through my head as strategy against them. I will try to run it when I have the chance but it anybody else has a free moment feel free. Not a proper test yet just a run to test their playability.

When I do my last test for Moleman, I'm going to try to remember to include this glyph as well. Glyphs only require a single army test for their initial playtest, so after I get that done, we can pass this guy to the playtesting phase.
Sooner this one's passed, the sooner Chronos can be initially playtested for real. But, definitely play a few informal games with Chronos first to try to check his power levels - good idea.

Initial Playtest!

Map: Martian Warzone: The Heat
Units: Mole Man (120), Moloids x10 (100), Doctor Doom (375), and Catwoman (145) (750) vs. Flash (250), Green Lantern Hal Jordan (350), Green Arrow (150) (750)

Spoiler Alert!

And just like that, I'm back to Mole Man being worth 100! This was a brutal loss, with a 1 life, 4 Battery Marker Hal Jordan and a 3 life Flash surviving for the win in Round 6, Turn 1. Mole Man died in round one, assassinated by Green Arrow, and only managed 2 wounds on the Emerald Archer first. Mole Man and the Moloids just weren't quick enough and didn't defend well enough (Subterranean Senses never hit once) to keep up with the JLAers. After Mole Man was gone, the Moloids weren't the same, but did manage to put one wound on Green Lantern and finally finish off Green Arrow. Doctor Doom managed to put 2 wounds on Green Lantern and had plenty of shots at killing him off, but his 5 attack couldn't compete with Green Lantern's height advantaged 8 defense. Doom did manage to steal Green Lantern's powers once, at the end of a round, and used Fearless Charge along with his 4 wounds to go an impressive 4 extra turns in a row! Still, Hal managed to finish him off after consistently rolling 2 or more shields on 8 dice during those turns from Doom (had he rolled 1 or fewer at any time, he would've died). That left Catwoman to clean up Flash and GL - the best she could manage was one wound on Flash, who darted back and forth between height for his attack and a shadow tile for his defense.
I also played the Glyph of Temporal Defense in this game, but since it wasn't in the most optimal place and since it didn't help any teammates, it really wasn't worth holding. Flash used it as a stop off point to avoid being attacked by Doom as he made his way up the map, but that was it.

I'm kind of not sure if this one is worth putting in a glyph pool most of the time unless it gets placed either:

a) in a wide open area on the way to cover or
b) in a high place advantageous for shooters

b is a placement usually avoided on competitive maps and a is a type of build usually avoided on competitive maps, so I do have some questions as to whether or not this one is going to be all that used as a glyph in its own right ... It probably would always be a good place to park someone like Professor X, though!

Certainly worth a try. And I think it'd make people less willing to put multiples of them on battlefield, I would think ... it'd be too powerful by itself otherwise.

Ok so I have updated the wording to:

All figures within 6 spaces of this glyph, cannot be targeted by a non-adjacent attack.

So if one of you lovely gentlemen that are doing an army playtest would take this glyph out for a spin that would be great.
