Get that child an intervention!!!!!

Seriously. Funny thing is my parents invited her to come and spend the summer with them, so she went for a few weeks and they asked her to teach them a few of the games they've bought but don't play enough to really remember the rules, etc.

So after leaving here (complaining about how we always play games), she went there, met some friends at my parents' church, and spent much of her time there teaching all of them how to play Splendor, Avalon, Red7, Forbidden Island, and several others.

And she loved it.

It's designed for 2-3 players and plays with 40 trains per player rather than the usual 45. Wilds are also played a little differently in that they can only be used for tunnel routes and you can pick up two from the open draw instead of just one. I really enjoyed our games on this board. Both our games were under 30 mins and the map is really fun and interesting with the unique kinds of tickets available (city-to-country, city-to-city, and country-to-country) and the added risk of tunnel building, it's a great two-player version of the game.
I've found that my enjoyment of Ticket to Ride increases a lot as I have the chance to rotate through different maps. They each bring something new and fun that makes the game just enough different that I engage a lot more with the game.

When I first only played the US map again and again, I swore off ever playing T2R again. Then (under my wife's urging) we got Europe, then Asia, etc. and I've slowly come to love it more and more. (Very excited by the new UK/Penn map coming out, for that exact reason.)

@Porkins I completely feel your pain.

Yes, I'm very excited about the UK/PA map collection also. As someone born and raised and currently living in Pennsylvania, the idea of playing on a board I'm very familiar with and personally connected to in real life is exciting, but the new mechanics also sound very interesting.

I've been considering the Asia set for a while, primarily as a 6-player option. Do you like the way it plays with teams? We have some couples we game with and 6 is sometimes a trickier number since so many games play up to 5.

Re: What Board Game Are You Currently Playing?

I think I've only once played a 6-player game. It is good, but I didn't find it amazing. (That said, I only did it once.) I have friends who love the team version.

What I found, most of all, is that my wife and I play very different styles of T2R, so we didn't make a great team.

Been playing Mistfall as of late. If you're a Lotr: LCG and / or a Pathfinder: ACG fan you will probably dig Mistfall.

C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Interestingly, great sailing so far. I think the next turn will be some ramming damage.

Then that was some fancy driving. I look forward to hearing the chaos that ensues.

Re: What Board Game Are You Currently Playing?

For those keeping track at home, here is what we were playing in the Mmirg household last month:

Pokémon Trading Card Game
12 - my sons have really got back into this again
One Night Ultimate Werewolf 7 - great short filler game; hard to just play one
Star Wars: X-Wing Miniatures Game 7 - this may well have become a Heroscape killer (and it's good enough that I'm getting to be okay with that)
Bananagrams 5
Guess Where? 3
Heroscape Master Set: Rise of the Valkyrie 3 - glad to see this one on the tables a bit
Kamisado 3
Magic: The Gathering – Arena of the Planeswalkers 3 - still enjoying this; can't wait to see how it works with expansions (January is too long to wait...)
U-Build Monopoly 3 - my youngest is really into Monopoly. We only play accelerated games, strictly by the book.
Spoiler Alert!

It's quest centered like LotR. There's a campaign mode like PF. You start with a basic deck and improve as you play like PF. There's locations like PF and LotR both that you have to make "safe". There's encounters like LotR. You have to make progress on each encounter similar to LotR. When you resolve an encounter you get loot similar to PF. There's enemies and heroes, and bosses like LotR and PF (and many other games
