Does anyone happen to own this:
http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x.../9780786943500

And do they know how Drizzt stacks up against HS figures?

From what I can tell by looking at the package in my LGS he seems way too skinny in comparison to the other D&D elves and humans.

In addition, If you don't mind painting them, the old D&D miniatures game "Chain Mail" is actually much closer in scale to HS (especially the dwarves, which are about the size of Games Workshop Orcs, but a bit shorter).

here's the info...

Hivelord625, The Doom Figures are from Doom the board game plus the expansion set. The other figures are from an old 80's game called Warzone.
The Rat ogre is from Games Workshop.

It's been awhile since I've seen them in person. If I remember correctly, they're just a tad smaller scale than HS. Some figs would look okay, but not all.

Most humanoid D&D minis are too small. They have upped the scale a bit in recent sets, but it is likly drizzt is still noticably smaller.

Best miniatures for customs

I know this thread has probably already been done and for that I apologize.
The search feature didn't yield what I was looking for.

But I was wondering what the best figures people used for customs were?

What is a safe bet on most miniatures? What about Mage Knight? I have seen a few of those figures and they seem to be on the same scale as Heroscape. But are all Mage Knight minis on the same scale as Heroscape? I just don't want to order a bunch and find them to be too small or large.

I like the D&D miniatures but I read that most of them are mis proportioned aside from a few of the beasts. But without seeing it I can't tell which one those are.

Any help anyone can offer is greatly appreciated. Again I apologize if this thread has been done.

Thanks guys/gals!

Cool figures from other games to use in HS
Miniature Scale Comparison Photos

In my experience, MageKnight figures tend to be on the small side.

Cool, the first link is nice. The second one though seems a little messed up. The actual thread that is.

This is a Mage Knight figure I have

He is nearly the exact same size as the Aubrien Archers. I just didn't know if most Mage Knight figures were of similar scale.

Re: Best miniatures for customs

That is actually one of the nicer Mage Knight figures. Most MK figures look like crap.

I've always been crazy, but it's kept me from going insane.

hah, yeah I noticed as much. But some of them do look quite nice. I was more concerned with the general scale of the minis.
