Re: Frostgrave, Halo Ground Command and other tabletop minis
I finally finished The Samuel's House kit from 4Ground Games. I started it last Sunday I believe, and after working on it off and on throughout the week, I finished it this afternoon. Took about 6 hours total, give or take.
These kits come pre-painted and come in a ton of MDF pieces, all on MDF punch boards so to speak. Most of it is 3mm MDF, but there is some thinner card stock, like for the trim on the porch columns and the window panes. For an example of how many pieces there are, each porch column is made up of 11 pieces. 2 MDF long pieces glued together and 9 pieces of card stock making up all the rest of them. The windows are Acetate for the glass, and this comes in a sheet of clear plastic that has all the glass pieces printed on it, so you need a hobby knife to cut each out. There is the black window frame, glass, and window panes (2 pieces of card stock, one for inside and one for outside). So the roof lifts off to expose the attic, which has a hatch that actually opens up. The attic lifts off to expose the 2nd floor, which in turn lifts off to expose the 1st floor, which in turn lifts off to expose the crawl space. All the doors are functional and open and close, except a closet door that is a card stock door glued to the opening in the wall. The porch roof lifts off (I decided not to glue it), so that you can have easy access to figures on the porch and open the front door. The small porch and steps on the side of the house isn't attached, as it would likely be more of a pain for storage and transportation if it were glued. The kit is for 28mm scale, but even though the Walking Dead figures are like 32mm I believe, it works out well. At some point I may get the neoprene mat version of this paper mat that came with the Days Gone By expansion. Re: Frostgrave, Halo Ground Command and other tabletop minis
Thanks Q!
What makes it nicer is that I got it for half price. Northstar Games had a sale awhile ago that I happened to see on Facebook, must be because I liked their site or whatever that let me see their add. Anyway, the kit was $27 instead of normal $54 ( always have to know that European sites have prices including their 21% VAT. So signing up at a site and logging in, I see prices for my address in US, which ends up being 21% less than what you normally see). Shipping was $8 from England, which is cheap considering the box for this had some weight to it. So for $35 total and about 6 hours of my time, I'm really happy with it. It is kind of a bugger to assemble at some points, but I managed. The 4Ground site has a ton of awesome kits for a variety of genres. But 28mm is the biggest scale they have. Shipping is pretty high, but free with orders over £50, which I believe is around $66 or so. I got a lot of stuff for Frostgrave from there when my buddy Chris ordered stuff as well. We were well over the free shipping threshold. Re: Frostgrave, Halo Ground Command and other tabletop minis
@Hahma
That stuff looks great. It seems that I have been relentlessly painting pirates throughout the day and still have droves of the little buggers. Im closing in on finishing the spaniard pirates from the season 2 core box. I still have to do up 10 more models to finish that set. Ive all but painted 27 models in the last handful of days. Im going to probably take a small break on miniatures after I complete the set im working on to do up a little GA scenery to set a scene for some pictures of my pirates so far. Its so easy to post pics to facebook. I really need to share especially with all the stuff you share. Its only fair.

Re: Frostgrave, Halo Ground Command and other tabletop minis
Inspired by my friend Chris' terrain making of late, I figured I'd try my hand at working with foamboard. This is my first ever attempt, and I kind of rushed it, but I think it's decent and have learned some things for the future.
Awhile ago, I had received some aquarium plants, I believe there are 10. They come attached to these white bases. There are several different colors, blues, greens and reds. I may do some as small individual pieces, with the base painted and glued to a piece of Acrovyn that's just just a little bigger than the base, for some flexible little plant bulbs that can fit anywhere. But for today's project, I wanted to make a little hill with some rocks, and try to set the plant base down into the foamboard some. As you can tell, it didn't go down too far, and there is a gap that I would have filled and blended in better had I taken more time. Anyway, here is my first attempt at some jungle terrain. I used my Frostgrave minis for reference since I don't have my Ghost Archipelago crew painted yet. Re: Frostgrave, Halo Ground Command and other tabletop minis
Made this 4x4 ocean looking board on the backside of my other dungeon frostgrave board to use for ghost archipelago and for a nice sunny beaches star wars battlefield. The board is just waferboard with paint thats been wet blended, and the islands are corkboard roll with wetblended beaches on there. The islands are modular and can be moved around. Also, I plan on doing two other types of terrain on the backs of some of them: Arctic, and wasteland. Re: Frostgrave, Halo Ground Command and other tabletop minis
I already finished 4 little boarding ships and my pirates cove. I also had a chance to base my Saurian Monarch(T-REX) Their clear coat is drying now. I'm just getting ready to make all my jungle foilage. I'll be using Grish's Palm tree tutorial once again but without heroscape hexes underneath. Thanks again for the great tutorials
