Re: Sports: NFL

Maybe this will be a chance for Tomlin to really prove himself. He inherited a great team from Cowher and since then, really hasn't done anything. He had great players but couldn't keep them disciplined (AB, Big Ben, Bell and Blount), but now that most of the off the field issues are off of the team, I think they have a chance to go far.

Re: Sports: NFL

He’s been a great coach. Better than that franchise deserves, because I hate them. But he deserved coach of the year consideration last year, considering how successful they were with potted plants at quarterback.

Re: Sports: NFL

True, last year as well as this year but I think nearly any coach could have had the early success he had with that team. He took over in 2007, two years after the Steelers won the Superbowl with a legendary coach. That team was already set to win another championship and for years (2010-2018 ) they had one of the most talented rosters in the league. Sure they went to the Superbowl in 2010 but that team should have had much more success (in my opinion) with a top teir offense and defense.

I am by no means saying Tomlin isn't a good coach I just think he could have done much better with the consistent talent he has had for thirteen years.

Re: Sports: NFL

As reluctant as I am to give Crazy Pete Carroll credit for anything, I don't think teams win without a good head coach. That goes for the Steelers, just as it goes for the 'Hawks.

Re: Sports: NFL

Oh for sure! That's why I don't think Tomlin is in the upper eschelon of coaches. Could you imagine if Belichick, Pete Carroll, Andy Reid or any of the other top coaches were the coach of that Steelers team the last decade? I don't think there is really any doubt they would have more rings. That offense had more talent than Seattle, a better defense than most of the league.

Russell Wilson has been getting it done with gadget guys and undrafted receivers for almost a decade while Pitsburgh has had huge talent at WR, RB, QB and offensive line.

Always exciting to finally get a year where the Patriots, Packers, Steelers, Ravens, and Seahawks are doing well.

Yes! That'll be interesting. I bet they'll still do well, but that division is *extremely* tough. You'll have to manage your expectations. Look for Arizona to get flexed to prime time games later this season, so more people can watch 'em, if they keep playing like they have been.

Good to see you, Aldin.

Re: Sports: NFL

I think the 49ers are still going to be competitive in the best division in football (so good/great) starting next week when Jimmy G and maybe Kittle are back.

Seems like nearly every team is getting big injuries (Bruce Irvin is done for the season) but the 9ers are worse off be it a lack of proper training or "bad turf" but I think they are still good enough to take, at least, a wildcard spot.

Re: Sports: NFL

Man, I was going crazy over not signing Frank Clark to a deal at the time and this year is really proving me (and really everyone) right. If two years ago the Seahawks signed Frank Clark or extended Clowney this year, the Seahawks would be the best team in the NFL. Especially considering if we had Clark, Kansas City wouldn't.

Re: Sports: NFL

The stat that Lamar Jackson is 22-1 as a regular season starter against the non-Chiefs, and 0-3 against the Chiefs, is pretty crazy.

But let's be honest. Nobody cares about this small potatoes matchup, we're all gearing up for the Thursday night game between the Broncos and the Jets.
