Cards of Legend, a multi-use deck of cards

Far from now, in a land of mystery, two mages walk into the basement of an old decrepit warehouse. They see each other and quickly pull out decks of cards from under their cloaks. They had been waiting for this...

This a thread for a new deck of cards that would have many uses and be able to be used in many games called Cards of Legend. Most of it is currently still in the design phases. So far they have a unique picture of a hero or monster, a simple number 1-20, a class that would act as the suit from a poker deck, and a special ability on them. My goal was to make a deck of cards that could be used for various games with very little other pieces. They can be used to play the same games you could as a poker deck with a couple of modifications, a CCG, and a new shedding game I'm currently working on called Elements.

Comments and criticism of any sort would be greatly appreciated. Playtesting would be appreciated even more.

Thanks K/H!

Alright, so far I have their name, class (melee warrior, ranged warrior, magi, beast), element (fire, water, earth, air, aether), a number 1-20, and a special ability, and a picture on each card. Do you think that is too much, too little or just right?

I enjoy the idea of this... It could be something that I could easily get into, as long as it's not overly priced or whatever. I think that a multipurposed card game could be very fun. Great idea Brickman!

Not quite yet but I'm close.

Just to be sure WotC doesn't hunt me down, they currently have a copyright on all tcg's, I am probably going to have these be free.

This does sound really cool. I had thought of doing something like this before but it never got any further than that. Can't wait to see this develop!

Guess who's back, back again? Chilli's back. Tell Skahen.

Huh? tcg? Does that mean Tradeable Card Games?

Regardless, WotC does not have a Copyright on all TCGs, CCGs, CMGs, RPGs or any other class of games.
That is simply not possible. They may have a Patent on something, but it is doubtful that any patent would cover an entire class of games.

They may have copyright on the term "TCG," but so what?

The only things WotC can copyright are the games they publish. You can publish anything you want as long as you don't include their word or art.

So don't let that thought stop you from doing what you want.
Good luck!

O yeah, my bad, I always get confused about copyrights, trademarks and patents. They have a patent on all tcg's and ccg's. Technically they invented them.

frack WotC. You're idea isn't a TCG. Your idea is a VCG: Versatile Card Game. I say, give me a free copy, then publish it!

or vise-versa.

Nice cards, BTW.

I think I'll just make a website to host them and have them available for free download. If I sell anything, it would be things like card protectors or a magazine.
