Re: Heroscape Card Sleeves
Are sleeves usually used for to prevent normal wear from...setting them on a table? Or to prevent drink spill damage?
I'm pretty OCD about figure storage. I have my figures organized morphologically so that someone can look at Raelin's card, see wings, and then find the Wings - Kyrie drawer without my help. It's completely pointless of course since I don't play nearly as much as I want to, and when I do it's against people who I'm teaching the game to--so they don't even choose an army. But with cards I'm slightly more laid back. My terrain is also very sorted OCD style--sparkly water does NOT go with boring water. (Couple hundred bucks in storage...and worth it!) I use a 94 and a 108-ish CD binder. It works perfect. They easily go in and easily come out. And once chosen, drinks on the table won't even be considered or discussed. My cards are in great shape. I've always found sleeves to be a little annoying. Same when I played Magic. Check out Gulp's Glyphs Not Worth Grabbing and Gulp's Abilities Not Worth Activating! Re: Heroscape Card Sleeves
I found that since I started using Memorex Keeper sleeves, I actually take my cards out a lot more and read through them than I did before when the cards were unprotected. I was always afraid of too much wear. Since I am reading the cards more, I am more familiar with the figures special powers which means I construct better armies. So in that sense it was worth the investment for sleeves.

Re: Heroscape Card Sleeves
Memorex Keepers are great. The clear ones are very hard to find, but they work really well. I have some colored Keepers, but I don't like how it makes the cards slightly harder to read. The only place I can find them is Radioshack. I put them all in a CD storage box, and it works really well.

Re: Heroscape Card Sleeves
I like the memorex keepers as well. They are sturdy and hold the cards in place quite well. I store my card keepers in a homemade stock card holder, kinda like a CD booklet, but cheaper and more effective. This way, i can see the cards and taking them out is relatively easy and fast. I hope the picture below works.

Re: Heroscape Card Sleeves
I don't sleeve my cards , but I do keep them in a binder. I use Caselogic Pages. I like these because they fit in standard binders. You can purchase them for 19.99 for 30 pages. I have the complete Scape collection including glyphs, Marvel and destructible objects with 2 empty pages. The next pack of pages I pick up will last the next 6 yrs of Scape.
Guess I'm getting back into Scape |

Re: Heroscape Card Sleeves
Welcome to the site!
Another option is laminating them. I'm in the midst of an absurdly labor-intense effort to laminate and cut out all my cards, as part of a ridiculous card storage and display project that will hopefully be complete by 2012. I've found that 7mil lamination gives your cards the sturdy heft they deserve, well worth the upgrade from 5mil or (blech) 3mil. You're also truly spill-proof, in a way that just about any case is not. There are several whole threads on this sort of thing BTW. Onacara's off his game today -- we're already on page 2 without an admonishment to search. Eagerly awaiting March of 2017 & August of 2019, when my little Grimnaks achieve the recommended minimum age for Master Rules... |

If you're thinking of laminating, take Ace's advice. Don't go cheap or you'll end up with bubbles and just crappy looking cards. Spend the money if this is important to you or don't do it at all. I know someone who laminated their cards with a home laminator and regretted it. He fixed the problem by taking the cards to Kinkos and having them done professionally. Not a cheap venture. I use Caselogic too and they work great. I always split the cards between two binders. That way your opponent can be flipping through the other one. Just as an aside. I originally started this thread as a warning of something not to use. The request for other things people have successfully used was kind of an afterthought when I wrote it.

Re: Heroscape Card Sleeves
Yea I wish I would have read this review sooner myself. I went with a 500 lot of these, and am very disappointed. The cards fit very loose and constantly fall out. A good 10 to 15 percent of them arrived with creases where they got folded in the pack.
That ugly looking seam at the bottom is horrible as well. These are so horrible, that I would like to sell them off, but I don't think I could honestly tell people they are "heroscape" sleeves. It's nice to know I am not the only adult addicted to buying and playing with plastic miniatures.

Re: Heroscape Card Sleeves
as I've surely already posted in the past, I use CD sleeves I purchase in a computer shop. they aren't perfect, as some sleeve can have kinda of "hairs" along one of the themal sealed sides, but even discarding these, they're great value for the price (I get 100 for about 10 euros), plus they have flaps, so no card will slide out.
also, sleeving cards helps to give a consistent look and feel to both original cards and the ones printed for customs. |

Re: Heroscape Card Sleeves
I bought those same sleeves where the cards constantly fell out. However, I used a card sealer to close the top. That way, it's closed on both ends and the cards fit snuggly in the sleeve. Granted, they aren't as thick and protective as the HouseMouse sleeves, but it's mostly the water damage I'm worried about.

One of the things I like most about the sleeves is that I put them in a CD box with little cardboard dividers I made for each general. The sleeves maintain the cards in an upright position, and not constantly rotating 1/6th of the way around as tends to happen when you have a stack of unsleeved cards.
