Re: The Book of General Zod

I agree with Ronin. The reason we are even talking about Zod is to make the soldiers relevant. Would I want it to be everything I love...sure...but that's just not realistic so I'm going to focus on finding things that will make me unhappy and work on fixing those. |

Re: The Book of General Zod
They'd still be relevant even with Non around, though - it's a double turn and he's the only other figure you could use. To even make use of it at all you'd need one Soldier, and you'd need more than one if you wanted anyone to replace the front line once someone falls. Right now it's just a bit generic and boring since he can only double bond a singe unit.

Re: The Book of General Zod
Nay. I don't see the point in an overhaul here when a tweak to align with designer intent and a point drop may well be sufficient.

Re: The Book of General Zod
I won't vote, because I can't, but I'd be a yea.
C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: The Book of General Zod
Know I’m not a voting member here, but I think the Non idea at least deserves some more discussion before it’s completely forgotten. Everything LO says is true; it gives new life to an extremely thematic pairing, allows for a tiny bit more army building variation, and because there’s only one Non it can never really eliminate the usefulness of the Soldiers.
Thematically, Zod, Non, and Ursa are a trio. Zod having harder synergy to one and not another has always been a little weird to me. Maybe it’s just that my vision of them is so strongly defined by the Reeves movie, but it feels like a Reed Richards card having specific callouts to Sue and Johnny on his card, then just shoving Ben into the general Adventurer synergy. It lacks symmetry. It’s probably a bit farther than past retcons have ever gone, but I figure it’s worth at least some solid discussion instead of just being looked over because another proposition passed. |

If you're after that Reeves movie feel, I'd bug johnny to tackle that Zod (II). I think it's more in line with what you're looking for in the character. |

Re: The Book of General Zod
Also for reference - Zod and Ursa are married in the comics and often show up together without Non nowadays (and often with their son, Lor-Zod, to complete the trio).

Re: The Book of General Zod
Just trying to look at some army options with Zod left at 380 since it's been a long time since I've fielded them.
Zod 380 Non 330 Ursa 230.....940 Kryptonian Infiltrator 160 ....1100 Kryptonian Solider x2 400 ....1500 Zod 380 Doomsday 390 Ursa 230 .........1000 Kryptonian Solider x3 600 ....1600 Zod 380 Kryptonian Infiltrator x2 320 Kryptonian Soldier x2 400 .....1100 If we are retesting him, I'd try him out at 370 so he could block up with either Non or Ursa as both end in 30 points. I'd also shave 10 points off the Krytonian Infiltrator so you could actually build up in blocks of 200 (Soldier) or 300 (for 2 Infiltrators) into what ever army size you are playing. Zod 370 Ursa 230 ....600 Kryptonian Soldier x2 400 .....1000 (or x3 for 1200) Zod 370 Non 330 .....700 Kryptonian Infiltrators x2 300 .....1000 (+ x3 Soldiers for 1600) Less easy to build up with, but you could instead shave 10 points off the Soldier (who isn't worth 200 points on his own) and leave the Infiltrators as is for a block featuring 2 of each for 700. Zod 370 Non 330 or Ursa 230 Kryptonian Infiltrators x2 320 Kryptonian Soldiers x2 380 .........1400 or 1300 This Zod design just doesn't seem like the Zod/Ursa/Non army on it's own card, for that I think he will need a new card that doesn't utilize the Uncommon Kryptonians at all.
