The figure used for this unit is a Star Wars figure from the Force Unleashed set. Its model number and name are 10/Hoth Trooper with Repeating Blaster Cannon.

Character Bio - The Rebel Heavy Gunner employs the Mark II medium repeating blaster cannon manufactured by Merr-Sonn Munitions, Inc. The Mark II was easily deployable in barren environments due to its ability to recieve power from many different sources. Mark IIs deployed by the Rebel Alliance were primarily used against infantry troops, since it did not have the power to punch through the armor of the All Terrain Armored Transports.

Rebel Heavy Gunners played a role in the defense of the Rebel Alliance's Echo Base on Hoth. Despite overwhelming odds, the Heavy Gunners fought on in an attempt to buy time for the other Rebels to evacuate the planet.

I cannot seem to get these guys to do much. I get excited when I realize that my machine gun has a gallery's worth of figures setup, but I generally don't kill more than one and haven't ever killed more than two.

My favorite game with this guy, was when I made 3 squads of tusken raiders come and get it. This guy pounded them with his multiple attacks and managed to kill more than his fill and then finish the game by killing zuckuss for the win. I made them come to me. I would like to see a rebel hero that can Kato style setup these Rebel uncommon heroes somehow. Wow, I just realized Major Derlin kinda does this, man I gotta get a few more gunners. Off to the cloning station.

I've found that a few of these guys and Derlin can be a decent force. Without Derlin though, Rebel Heavy Gunners are pretty weak. Of course, for 65 points, it's not a huge loss if they don't do much. I think they're best as a counter-draft to low defense squads.

I'm including Gunner x3, Major Derlin, 2-1B and Luke Skywalker 3.0 in some of my playtesting armies. The Gunner's take on the squads, while Luke handles the big heros. Storm Troopers weep, because there are no squad figures to get double hits on
