I dig that for sure. I think that fits his personality a lot better. Weirdo recluse speedster who knows a ton and quietly/passively helps in his zen way, while being an able combatant on his own.

Cool. Might tweak Superspeed Acrobatics just a hair to be more like acrobatics powers and carry some more of that flavor:

With all the anti- flash defense reduction attacks what if he could also mitigate that some. At a minimum let him set a minimum of one.

Would I want it to be everything I love...sure...but that's just not realistic so I'm going to focus on finding things that will make me unhappy and work on fixing those.

How about this? Make him a real counter-counter.

ZEN MASTER OF SPEED
Opponents may not use any special power to subtract defense from or stop the movement of a figure you control that has the Superspeed or Speed Force special power and is within 6 clear sight spaces of Max Mercury.

Hmm, interesting thought looking at the mechanics of this, is the 6 clear sight spaces going to get mechanically messy when tracking for when something triggers for a figure that's moving 10+ spaces during their turn?

I don't think it should be a problem.I feel like the way it's gonna happen, generally is that Flash moves into some aura (Blob's or someone's), you stop and see if he's in range of Max Mercury. If he is, he can keep trucking and if not, you're done moving.

I guess the only 'gotcha' there is that if Flash keeps running around on spaces adjacent to Blob, you do have to keep checking - Max might have some spaces around Blob covered, but not all of them.

If we wanted to simplify it, we could have it affect figures that started their movement within 6 spaces of Max instead of figures currently within 6 spaces, so you don't have to keep checking as you move.

Bio - The Zen Master of Speed, Max Mercury was born in the early 19th century, and granted a mystical connection to the Speed Force by a Blackfoot shaman. Since then, he has made his way to the present day by making small hops forward in time. Along the way, he's become a living legend, a hero under various names. He helped inspire Jay Garrick to become the first Flash, and in the modern day serves as a mentor to the younger speedsters, particularly Wally and Bart.
Actually a bit shorter than Jay's card, I think - Jay also has a bulleted power, so that'd be a weird little bit of synchronicity for our geezer speedsters.

Okay, here's a couple characters I brainstormed for a long time ago (back in the Ally days), but never returned to, mainly because of mini availability.

Bio - Crime-Master is none other than Bennett Brant, the long-thought-dead brother of Betty Brant. Bennett was seemingly killed after getting in over his head with a crook known as "Blackie", but a mysterious organization revived him to take on the mantle of the Crime-Master. He set up a criminal empire and established a reputation as an arms-dealer. He managed to escape the notice of most superheroes, but eventually wound up on Agent Venom's radar. Crime-Master assembled a cadre of villains known as the "Savage Six" to try to take down Venom.

EVASIVE FLYING
When Jack starts to fly, he will not take any leaving engagement attacks. When Jack rolls defense dice against an attack from a non-adjacent figure without the Flying or Stealth Flying special power, 1 shield will block all damage, and you may immediately move Jack one space for each shield rolled.

BRAINWASHED FLUNKIES
Before placing Order Markers at the start of each round, if Jack is destroyed, you may choose a Common Human on the battlefield and roll the 20-sided die. If you roll 13 or higher, destroy that figure, place or remove Wound Markers on this card until Jack has 2 Life remaining, and then place Jack on the space that figure previously occupied.

SUPER STRENGTH

Bio - Jack O'Lantern was a young boy (real name unknown, alias "Jack") kidnapped by Crime-Master. Crime-Master managed to twist the boy to his own ends, raising him to be a monstrous assassin. Jack O'Lantern thinks of Crime-Master as his real father, and harbors an intense grudge against Flash Thompson. Though he was defeated and imprisoned by Flash, Jack O'Lantern continues to haunt him - Jack O'Lantern has hidden caches of equipment staffed by robotic underlings. When someone stumbles into one, they are brainwashed into becoming a new Jack, with his personality, powers, and skills.
I tried to design these versions to fit together well mechanically, not just by hard synergies. They'll also want some Street Thugs to bond with Crime-Master and be flunky fodder for Jack. For the record, the other Savage Heroes are:

None of them the actual Savage Six members (none of those guys are designed yet and most don't even have minis), but Conan aside, they're all decent-to-great fits.

I'm not 100% sure on the Brainwashed Flunkies power for Jack - technically it's something that's only happened once in the comics. But it was kind of a big, important story (well, important to Jack and Venom) and it combo'd really well with what I already had in mind for Crime-Master, so I figured I'd at least throw it out there.
