I dig that for sure. I think that fits his personality a lot better. Weirdo recluse speedster who knows a ton and quietly/passively helps in his zen way, while being an able combatant on his own.

With all the anti- flash defense reduction attacks what if he could also mitigate that some. At a minimum let him set a minimum of one.
Would I want it to be everything I love...sure...but that's just not realistic so I'm going to focus on finding things that will make me unhappy and work on fixing those. |

How about this? Make him a real counter-counter.
ZEN MASTER OF SPEED Opponents may not use any special power to subtract defense from or stop the movement of a figure you control that has the Superspeed or Speed Force special power and is within 6 clear sight spaces of Max Mercury. Hmm, interesting thought looking at the mechanics of this, is the 6 clear sight spaces going to get mechanically messy when tracking for when something triggers for a figure that's moving 10+ spaces during their turn? C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

I'd be cool with letting him negate defense subtraction. That's a clever effect.

If we wanted to simplify it, we could have it affect figures that started their movement within 6 spaces of Max instead of figures currently within 6 spaces, so you don't have to keep checking as you move. |

The bulleted version is more complex to write down, but I think the gameplay would be simpler, and the whole shebang isn't too crazy:

Okay, here's a couple characters I brainstormed for a long time ago (back in the Ally days), but never returned to, mainly because of mini availability.
