Same with squads attacking - basically since each attack is separate the target is right before each attack, and engagement/range/sight are determined at point of targeting before each attack, not once for all attacks. My only question is you target a Rat with an explosion attack (ie. Deathwalker 9000), then a rat scatters next to the target for the explosion (which it could survive or not) is that Rat targeted? How about if a deathreaver starts adjacent to original target and scatters away - is it still affected by the Explosion Special Attack, as it matters when the adjacency is checked.

Explosion Special Attack: Range 7. Attack 3.
Choose a figure to attack. Any figures adjacent to the chosen figure are also affected by the Explosion Special Attack. Deathwalker only needs a clear sight shot at the chosen figure. Roll 3 attack dice once for all affected figures. Each figure rolls defense dice separately. Deathwalker can be affected by his own Explosion Special Attack.

Scatter only works against normal attacks.
