I think I read on HQ that there was a site/thread you can visit to learn how Hasbro determine the cost, points-wise, of each 'Scape unit.

Does this s/t still exist? If so, could someone kindly point me in the right direction?

I'm not sure if it's what you wanted, but I spotted a spreadsheet on www.boardgamegeek.com that seemed to be an extrapolation of the point costing. Or it was based off a spreadsheet. Anyway, start here:
