Tutorial on How to Paint/Mod this Figure

Character Bio - IT is a shape-shifting creature known as a Glamour who is billions of years old. Although It lived on planet Earth for many years, IT originated in a void/dimension outside the regions of space known as the Macroverse.

Since ITs true identity is unclear, due to its shape-shifting abilities and being from another universe, ITs real name and species are also called Deadlights, but few know this, which is why it is referred to as IT. The form of a female spider seems to be ITs true physical form on Earth (or at least that is the closest thing the human mind can comprehend), living deep below the fictional town of Derry, Maine.

IT can morph into any other human animal, nonhuman animal or object (including combinations thereof). This ability is useful for, A) appearing as the target's loved ones or friends to manipulate them or lure them into a trap or B) appearing as the target's worst psychological fear. However, ITs favorite and most common form is that of a circus performer named "Pennywise the Dancing Clown," as most small children love a clown and generally, it seems that the people in Derry happily accepted the presence of a stray circus performer. At the same time, many people are afraid of clowns, making them an easy fear to exploit.

ITs primary goal is to feed on humans, generally preferring children over adults since they were easier to scare and manipulate. According to the creature, frightened flesh tastes better and uses fear to "salt the meat". -Stephen King wiki

YOU'LL FLOAT TOO
At the start of the game, you may place a Glyph of Haunted Balloon on any empty space on the battlefield. Instead of attacking with Pennywise, you may place Pennywise on or within 3 spaces of the Haunted Balloon glyph, or place the Haunted Balloon glyph on any other empty space on the battlefield.

IT
When Pennywise attacks normally, if the defending figure does not have the Fearless personality, you may re-roll all dice once for each of the following that is true about that figure:
• It is small or tiny.
• It does not have the Super Strength special power.
• It has a Wound Marker on its card.
• It is not adjacent to any figures it considers friendly.

THE DEADLIGHTS
After attacking normally with Pennywise, if you rolled all skulls, the defending figure must immediately roll the 20-sided die. If it rolls 6 or lower, it receives a wound. It must continue rolling until it does not roll 6 or lower.

Figure Tutorial:

Start with Baron Zemo 045 + Slapstick - 021b heroclix figures.

Spoiler Alert!

Cut gun away from Zemo's hand.


Cut that arm off of Zemo.


Glue it back on with it now going straight down his side.


Cut the other arm off now.


Glue it back on with it facing forward, as if holding something in front of him.
(you may need to shave/cut it in a way that fits flush at the connection point)


Not required, but I cut a couple of slivers off the connection point and glued them onto his hip area to form more of the skirt look he has. This could also be accomplished by just building up paint or ignoring it entirely.



Then you can shave off some of his side(the side with the arm out forward/his right) to give it bit more of a curved shape. This accentuates his thinner waist leading to the wider chest above and the skirt like fabric on his wider hips. I also shaved off a bit of the other arm(the one hanging straight down/his left) to make it look thinner leading to the wider area of the shoulder above and the wrist below, both of which puff out a bit more.


Then you can shave the top of the white part at the top of the boots that fluff out, to make them look more like tights that go down into shoes.


This is also optional, but I did it in an attempt to better capture the likeness of Pennywise, which is to cut the legs off from the "skirt". This is because the legs by default are spread out, whereas Pennywise's legs are usually closer together. So it's fairly minor, thus optional. If you do it, then you'll glue them back on the base, closer together, then glue his torso back on top.




Now you'll want to cut Zemo's head off, and then paint his body all white/off white.


Cut/pull Slapstick's head off.


Cut some of the extra hair off to shorten it a bit. Just refer to a picture of Pennywise for reference to get the best desired results.


Glue the head onto where Zemo's head was.


Paint the body a light/mid tone grey, leaving the ruffles around the neck and wrists and his gloves white.


Add 3 red blobs/circles for the red clown balls in the torso. I used a bit of built up paint blobs to give them a bit of depth instead of just flat circles, but whatever works fine.


Paint his shoes a darker grey, with 1 red blob on the top of each foot near the toes.


Paint his face and forehead white. He has a pretty noticeably big forehead as part of his look, so I built a bit of excess paint even covering up a bit of the hair on his forehead as well as receding a bit, so refer to the pictures to ensure it looks correct as you don't want his hairline so far down his head.


Paint his hair an orangish color.


Referring to a picture of him or the figure, paint the red paint parts of his face including the end of his nose, his mouth, and the lines that extend from the edges of his mouth up across his eyes.


Paint his eye sockets black.


Add a yellowish/orangish dot for each eye.


Then I just dirtied it up a bit with a wash(very watered down black paint applied over his outfit then you dab it down leaving some of the sunken in areas darker and dirtier looking) and put some subtle horizontal lines going down his tights.


Then it's complete. Feel free to add a balloon of some sort if you can find something to use, but for simplicity here I left it out.

Figure looks awesome!! Write-up looks good too. Not sure he will be worth 165, but that's what testing will determine.

Cool to see FoF get a reuse. Glad we dropped that Dredd.clause.

Sweet design! My first thought is that the first power has a lot going on, but looking at it, it's fairly straightforward. It might just be me, but I think rearranging the bullets helps. Then you've got all things on that figure's card first, then you look at the figure's position for the last bullet.

• It is small or tiny.
• It does not have the Super Strength special power.
• It has a Wound Marker on its card.
• It has no Order Markers on its card.
• It is not adjacent to any figures it considers friendly.

Sadistic definitely fits well. I'd probably tack on Insane to the first power, for consistency with the second power. But that's also pretty brutal to have two personality immunities. You could probably nix the personality callout entirely from the first power since that theme is already represented in the second power.

Excited to see Pennywise making moves. I always imagined IT having some sort of Red Balloon power using a glyph or a marker that radiated fear(reducing defense) or something.

I like the direction you're going with here though. Love The Dancing Clown.

Yeah I like that re-roll thing! It feels a lot like some of the snappy jarring motions he does in the new movies.

I will say I really dig this idea. I feel like Pennywise’s whole thing is setting up “snapshot” horror scenarios. Like he pops in and has a great deal of control in creating hallucinations/whatever in the space around him. I’m not sure if there’s a way to emphasize that a little more, but I’d dig that over a ‘no LEAs and free moves” power on a Slasher.

I’d also really be down to see points soar here, another higher value Slasher could be a lot of fun. I know Pennywise is mostly effective cause he takes on kids/normal people, but 165 could feel a little low for a cosmic horror.

I would like to keep things fairly sleek if possible. So a Balloon Marker approach would need to be something relatively simple if we went that route.

I'd also forgo Face of Fear if we were to give up anything. I know disengage and a once per round passive move isn't exactly exciting/unique, but I feel he's gotta have some means of popping in and out. I also like repping his more zany unorthodox methods and mannerisms. Perhaps it's not there yet, currently being a once per round clingy+ escape, but that's the hope.

Defense reduction has been done quite a lot with these guys too, so that's why FoF would be the easier cut(especially with his re-rolls already dependent on how likely they are to be afraid of him), however we decide to retool The Dancing Clown power.

If we can figure something out, I wouldn't mind going with a set like:

And on the 165 front, I'm not married to it if we want to push more in the 200's. Seeing him get his butt kicked as he has, and defeated by words essentially, I didn't know quite where to place him, but he has been around for centuries and killed hundreds if not thousands so there's room for interpretation there based on longevity. I like to do things in 100 point gaps from other established pieces, for army building purposes, so perhaps 275 would be the next reasonable jump if we want to go bigger.

I had a balloon marker approach originally, but after the Gremlins and Sadako having Defense reduction being such a primary aspect, I don’t want to overkill it. Aiming for something a bit weird and crazy here instead.

For sure! I love seeing more Slashers and I'm excited for IT.
