Re: The Book of Apollo (Initial Playtesting)
We're working on getting the procedures thread up-to-date, so hopefully there'll at least be a coherent explanation of the big picture on the books in the near future.

Re: The Book of Apollo (Initial Playtesting)
We use capes, sir.
C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: The Book of Apollo (Initial Playtesting)
Ran 4 games here, saw a 2-2 split. Apollo's best performance was likely game 3. Game 4 was run with Ms. Marvel, and bonding to avoid OM limit doesn't feel too overpowering, as he will still need to be conservative with his resources. Small games a definitely a nightmare for him, as he most wants to keep his allies going as long as possible so he can keep recharging. At first I thought about making the healing not contingent on OMs, but that was after game 2. By game 4, I'm pretty happy where he's at.
- THEME TEST/ He feels great here. He can still stand up on his own, which I like, but feels definitely optimal when teamed with Midnighter. - MIRROR TEST/ Nothing I saw here. - BONDING TEST/ Need to add the “no other figures” clause in Solar Burst, as the intent is not to start a bonding chain. - SYNERGIES TEST/ Most of his synergies right now are specifically with Midnighter. Other potential synergies would be stacking with Kryptonians, or teaming with Ms. Marvel. - POWER CHECK/ Nothing I saw here. - FUN TEST/ He’s a lot of fun. It can be tough to judge Radiant Light, and can be frustrating if no blanks are rolled when it is used. - FUN COMPETITIVE TEST/ He feels about like other heavy-hitters. He’s tough to crack, which can be annoying, but no moreso than people like Clark. - DRAFTING TEST/ Struggles in smaller games, as he gets a bit neutered if the endgame comes too fast. - USAGE TEST/ It felt like the Special attack was used a lot game 3, but that may have been more of an anomaly. A very mobile team in Game 2 made it feel unnecessary. - STRATEGY TEST/ See above. _____________________________________________________________ THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: Apollo has high tanking potential, but can be brought down, especially in the endgame where powers run low. He feels like he may be odd to cost, as he clearly falters in the endgame and is majorly open to autowounds. Some bad luck rulled for mutants in game 3 (Wolverine flubbed a lot of attacks, as did Dedapool. The Ms. Marvel combo is strong, but I don’t know that it really proves that much better than an actual Operative build. GENERAL THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT: Probably only in game 3 did Apollo himself really get his points worth offensively, but his defensive potential is quite high. He can do a lot to save allies in a pinch, if you’re playing your resources well. He’s an interesting strategic challenge, as the right builds can take him down quick, but others almost have to work around him to make him an easier endgame target. I'd really like to hit 420 on the nose with him to pair evenly with Midnighter, but we can see based on others. Midnighter did pretty well in that game 3, but as was evident, got stomped in game 1. My plan will be to move him forward adding in a "no additional turns" clause in the Solar Burst. Last edited by LordVenoc; April 29th, 2019 at 12:50 PM. |

Re: The Book of Apollo (Initial Playtesting)
Nicely done. Did you play him at 420 points in all of those tests? Noting it clearly in the tests themselves is really nice for future reference (including the Final Editing vote).

Re: The Book of Apollo (Initial Playtesting)
Yep! Ran him at 420 all the way through, so I'll go update those to state it in the Initial. Thanks for the feedback there on things to improve the Initial!

Re: The Book of Apollo (Initial Playtesting)
LV is hot on my trail in getting 3 designs in the bag, and my Daleks had a month head start on his Stanchek. You’re a machine, man! Keep at it!
