So my trial packet of ShapeLock just came in...

Any suggestions as to what I should make with it? It's actually a decent amount too, for a trial package. I'm thinking of trying to make a piece to fit in with the water tiles just as a test. Anyways on to playing with it.

http://www.shapelock.com/ in case anyone hasn't seen it yet.

Wow! What a great find Bashh! I'm definitely going to get a sample as well. This stuff might have great applications for making game pieces.

Yeah I'm hoping so, I saw it in search for casting materials/how to's. The stuff seems pretty cheap and when you melt it in hot water it expands to a decent size. I'm thinking it might be a relatively useful and inexpensive alternative to resin casting.

I don't get it? What the heck are you going to do with it? Make water pieces? Make a big water piece? Sorry, I don't understand...

ShapeLock is a plastic with a low melting point that you submerse in hot water until soft like wax and sculpt it into what you want, then you can put it in ice water to quicken the cooling process so it turns opaque white again and bam instant plastic figure.

It starts as little plastic pellets as such:

Me dicking around with it, it's supposed to be a bom-bom, but I wasn't trying very hard.

That stuuf is awesome. How much does it cost?

That's secretly what it is _

edit: Updates

Now with feet and base!

Slightly smaller key, and zomg beginning of painting!

I'm liking this shapelock stuff a lot better than I thought I would. The water temp really needs to be a lot closer to boiling than it tells you, and almost as soon as you get it out of the water it's cooling down. My impression is that it's a good idea to rough out your object first, file it down into detail, and then melt it a little bit so rough parts smooth down. I'm not to worried if my bomb-om looks crappy.
