Overall, I’d recommend Amazo’s point value be raised slightly. He’s got big stats, he’s super fast, Intangible makes sure he’ll get a counterattack, and the lasso is useful occasionally. The special attack gives him some nice extra mobility and water strength is normally useless but great for theme and some maps. NAME OF THE TEST UNIT Amazo

- THEME TEST/ Check to see if there are any powers or stats on the test unit card that does not accurately reflect the theme or likeness of what the character would and could do. Also consider destructible objects, and whether or not this characters powers should affect them.
Pass. The theme of Amazo is spot-on, since he has all the powers of the Justice League. One thing that would be cool to see, but probably too complex to implement, is Amazo losing certain powers as he gets injured. A big strategy the Justice League uses in the comics is to take out Amazo’s legs, for example, to negate his Flash powers. It’d be cool that for every 3 wounds Amazo receives, he loses a power (maybe it’s random, maybe the attacker decides, maybe Amazo’s controller decides). Just a random idea; I don’t know if the complexity of a power like that is worth it. I really like the simplicity here already.

- MIRROR TEST/ Check to see if the unit were played against itself, if there would be any loops that would upset the balance of the Game.
Pass.

- BONDING TEST/ Compare the unit card with all possible currently existing Bonding abilities to make sure there are no continual Bonding possibilities that do not stop appropriately or do not stop at all. This is to prevent loops in Bonding.
Pass. No bonding.

- SYNERGIES TEST/ Compare the unit card with all possible currently existing synergies to make sure there are no factors that could break the game by making any unit to powerful or too weak.
Pass. Android synergies aren’t too bad.

- POWER CHECK/ Consider the test unit and all existing units and all glyphs to compare to and check for any powers that could be over amplified and break the game. Each power must define when it takes place, who or what it affects, and What are the stipulations on the power if there are any.
Pass.

- FUN TEST/ Consider whether or not the design was fun to play.
Pass. I love big beatsticks like this.

- FUN COMPETITIVE TEST/ Consider whether or not the design was fun to play against.
Pass. He’s a little frustrating with Intangibility, high stats, the lasso, and his special attack, but it requires you to rethink your strategy - exactly the sort of thing an Event Hero should do.

- DRAFTING TEST/ Consider whether or not this design is worth drafting.
Pass.

- USAGE TEST/ Consider whether or not all of the powers on this card were used or at least usable.
Pass. Water Might is the least used power and could be removed if you need the space, but it’s nice Aquaman theme.

- STRATEGY TEST/ Consider whether or not the design offers any real strategy or interesting tactics to the overall game.

Pre-game thoughts: Brainiac 13 seems to work pretty well with Amazo, allowing easy OM flexibility plus a die change each round.

Round 1: OMs- 123X Brainiac. 1 Martian Manhunter, 23 Superman.
Amazo begins the match by flying in and attacking with his Super Speed special attack, but not inflicting any wounds. Martian Manhunter attacks, but fails, but his telepathic directive allows the Justice League to grab height. Amazo uses his green power ring to attack Supes but fails. Superman fails his attack. Amazo then unleashes a mighty 10-skull blow with the help of Brainiac, height, and his green power ring, which inflicts 6 wounds on Superman. Superman fails his next attack on Amazo.

Round 2: OMs- 123X Brainiac. 1 Superman, 23 Martian Manhunter.
Superman punches 2 wounds onto Amazo. Amazo uses his lasso to pull Wonder Woman close and punch 3 wounds onto her. Martian Manhunter fails his attack. Amazo uses Super Speed and fails to damage Superman. Martian Manhunter deals 2 wounds to Amazo and keeps everyone adjacent to Amazo. With Brainiac’s help, Amazo’s Super Speed attack kills Superman and brings Wonder Woman to 5 wounds.

Round 3: OMs- 123X Brainiac. 123 Martian Manhunter.
Amazo lassos Batman close then deals him 2 wounds. Martian Manhunter then deals 4 wounds to the android. Amazo’s Super Speed kills Wonder Woman and deals 1 wound to Martian Manhunter with Brainiac’s help. Martian Manhunter fails his attack. Amazo then kills the Batman. Martian Manhunter finally kills Amazo.

Round 4: OMs- 123X Brainiac. 123 Martian Manhunter.
Brainiac rushes towards his enemy. Martian Manhunter inflicts 1 wound. Brainiac burns the X to inflict a wound. Martian Manhunter grabs height and inflicts 2 wounds. Brainiac fails his attack. Martian Manhunter gets lucky and inflicts 4 wounds on Brainiac.

Round 5: OMs- 123X Brainiac. 123 Martian Manhunter.
Brainiac burns the X to inflict a third wound. Martian Manhunter again gets crazy lucky and inflicts another 4 wounds. Brainiac fails his attack. Martian Manhunter fails his attack. Brainiac finally manages to kill the green Martian.

Pre-game thoughts: This is a much stronger army for Amazo and Brainiac 13 to go up against. However, if Amazo can take out Mr. Fantastic quickly, the Adventurers might crumble.

Round 1: OMs- 123X Brainiac. 123 Mister Fantastic.
Amazo flies in on the first turn to pummel Invisible Woman with a green lantern ring-boosted attack, but it only does one wound. Mister Fantastic rolls an 18 for his leadership power, and Brainiac lowers that down to a 17. Iron Man inflicts 3 wounds, Thing fails his attack, and Mister Fantastic rubber wraps Amazo and inflicts 2 more wounds. Amazo kills invisible woman by burning a power ring marker. Mister Fantastic rolls a natural 3 on the d20, and fails to damage Amazo. Amazo inflicts 3 wounds onto Mister Fantastic. Thing then inflicts one more wound onto Amazo.

Round 2: OMs- 123X Brainiac. 1 Mister Fantastic, 23 Thing.
Amazo fails his attack on Mr. Fantastic. Thing then brings Amazo to 8 wounds. Amazo then kills Mr. Fantastic. Thing brings Amazo to 9 wounds. Amazo puts 2 wounds on Human Torch, then Thing fails his attack.

Round 3: OMs- 123X Brainiac. 12 Thing, 3 Iron Man.
Amazo inflicts a 3rd wound on Human Torch. Thing then kills Amazo. Brainiac flies in and uses his 12th level intellect to kill Iron Man in one hit. Thing puts 2 wounds on Brainiac. Brainiac fails his attack on Thing then both take a wound to lava field.

Round 4: OMs- 123X Brainiac. 1 Human Torch, 23 Thing.
Brainiac fails his attack. Human Torch flies in so Thing can get his clobberin’ time bonus but fails his attack. Brainiac finishes off Human Torch. Thing fails his attack. Brainiac inflicts 2 wounds on Thing. Thing inflicts 3 wounds on Brainiac. Thing takes a lava field damage.

Round 5: OMs- 123X Brainiac. 123 Thing.
These two trade blows until Brainiac 13 is the only one left standing.

Round 3 – Team 2 wins initiative, Flash engages Forge at attacks with his SA and causes 1 wound after all 4 attacks of 3. Amazo flies and engages Flash and is also adjacent to Forge and Attacks the Scarlet Speedster and rolls 3 skulls to Flash’s 2 shields inflicting 1 wound. Flash uses his SA attack against Forge again but fails to land a successful blow. Amazo attacks the Flash but the Flash is able to dodge and live another day. Batman and Robin move closer to Red Tornado. Amazo flies over the wall to engage Flash and attacks again but he dodges again.

Round 4 – Team 1 wins initiative, Amazo flies to Flash and gets height advantage and attacks rolling 5 skulls but Flash continues to dodge. Flash runs back to engage Forge and attacks with his normal attack rolls 4 skulls to Forge’s 1 shield giving him 3 wounds and kills Forge. Amazo with sheer anger towards the Flash engages him again blocking his best escape route and attacks rolling 3 shields to Flash’s 1 shield and gives him 2 more wounds. Batman moves up and attacks Red Tornado with his SA and fails to hurt him, Robin moves up and attacks Red Tornado and also fails to hurt the android. Amazo attacks the Flash again rolling 4 skulls to his 2 shields giving him 2 wounds and finally takes the speedster down. Batman moves and engages Red Tornado with height advantage and attacks rolling 4 skulls to Red’s 3 shields inflicting 1 wound and Robin moves next to Batman and also has height advantage and attacks Red Tornado rolling 4 skulls also to 2 shields inflicting 2 more wounds.

Electro attacks Robin with his SA and rolls 4 skulls and Robin answers with 4 shields defending the attack. Forge removes a wound from Amazo with Mechanical Engineering.

Round 5 – Team 2 wins initiative, Nightwing Titans Go! Superboy flies over the wall to engage Amazo and attacks with his SA but fails to roll a skull, Robin moves up to get height on Electro and attacks rolling 2 skulls against Electro’s 1 shield giving him 3 wounds killing him, (Team 1 loses Turn 1 and 2), Nightwing moves up next to Robin and attacks Mad Thinker from height but does not hurt him. Very boring round.

Round 10 – Team 1 wins initiative, Forge continues to attack Nightwing rolling 3 skulls and finally breaks through and inflicts 3 wounds after Nightwing fails to roll a shield. Nightwing attacks with his normal attack and is blocked again. Forge attacks Nightwing and he defends and Nightwing backs up 1 space. Red Hood moves closer to the fighting. THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: (I like him at anywhere above 500, 520 might also be too low. Balance wise he feels good; he is definitely powerful but he can be stopped. I will definitely pick him again he would do well in any android army. If he gets the chance to heal watch out.)

GENERAL THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT: (Amazo is very strong. He feels like an Event hero who a whole team needs to focus on. As long as the rolls go in his favor he can be hard to put down.)

Erring on the high side for an above 500 figure is never a bad idea. I think with a certain Professor he should be able to be an army.

Not bad for DC4Life's first tests. His opposing armies could use a little bit work, but the amount of detail is good to see in a first playtest sheet.

530 or 540 if he's coming in strong sounds good.

I'd like to see another tester get their hands on him first (like TB says, those opposing armies in DC4life's tests aren't too scary), but a small price bump should be fine if he's still coming in a little strong.
