Should we change this Kong to a Kaiju so that we can reference Kaiju for synergy powers instead of Huge Destroyers? That opens up classes a bit since we already agreed to go Kaiju for species on Godzilla monsters.

Mechanically speaking, light synergy with Solovar is the only thing that comes from Simian, since the other stuff requires him to be a Unique Hero.

That last Attack with the X revealed would be an attack of 9 correct. It only references revealed OM and not revealed numbered OM.

As for Simian vs. Kaiju, I'm fine either way. We'll want to do the same with all the others if so. So whatever the general preference is, is fine with me.

Hot take maybe - I'm fine with Kong not really getting to join in the Kaiju games. He's not really part of the 'Godzilla extended family' - he shows up, Big G and him knock each other around a bit, then Kong waltzes back to his own continuity. As far as I can tell, the 1962 film and the 2021 film are the only times the characters have ever really interacted.

(Monsterverse obviously changes the game somewhat, but even then Kong didn't show up to the big monster mash movie.)

Idk, just doesn't seem essential for this dude to be included in whatever 'Kaiju synergy' ends up being. Most drafts, like Ronin's Godzilla, seem fine just saying Huge = Kaiju; If we want to get more specific than that, there's a good chance we don't want Kong included anyways.

Spoiler Alert!

The Gundam puts a couple wounds on Kong but then Kong punches the Gundam for a couple wounds, then takes an extra turn to throw him then destroy him from height. He had some lucky rolls for this to happen, but yikes. After that massive turn, Apollo and Midnighter whittle down Kong, but their poor attack rolls limit this somewhat. In round 2 Kong kills Apollo, then Midnighter brings Kong to 10 wounds before falling.


Who won? List figures remaining in the winning army (include life remaining for heroes): Kong (10 wounds) wins.

Kong absolutely wrecked Godzilla here. Getting a semi-reliable autowound on him each turn, plus Ferocious Strike reducing ‘Zilla’s defense and Kong getting an extra turn made Kong superior here. Godzilla never had any massive attack rolls either, and couldn’t utilize his Wake Of Destruction. I think if I played this again, I’d camp a bit with Godzilla early on to charge the Atomic Breath.

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: Fun design, very different than Godzilla but still has a lot of versatility and power. Very cool to have a guaranteed throw power, I found myself rolling the unblockable first a few times just out of habit.

Reasonably close first game - had the Gundam done anything it easily could have gone the other way. Kong had an easy win against Godzilla, but I felt like Godzilla had a chance had he rolled better. Wouldn’t change anything.

(And I don't really care on the species. I think it'd be cool to have Mothra work with Kong, so consider me having a very slight preference towards whatever can make that happen.)

Looks awesome! Yeah the 1 v 1 big man matchups can go either way just based on landing any big hits.

I'm fine either way. I agree on letting Mothra work with him would be nice. So if we go Simian, she can just key in on huge as well?
