The Kozukes are a pretty good value for their cost. 5 attack dice plus an 8-space charge range is quite strong.

They almost justify the existence of Hatamoto Taro, since his 8-space aura could still cover the Kozukes after an 8-space charge. (130 points for Taro is still way too expensive, though)

Hey! Don't be telling everyone my secret.

Don't forget you get the road bonus with the charge, so if you're charging out of the castle down a road, you can move up to 11 spaces. Talk about unexpected.

Anyway...I'm feelin' like pie.

I got my buddies Brunak with this. He wasn't very happy. To add salt to the wound, a single Kosuke took him down in one shot.

I like to use the Kozuke as guards for slow moving heroes.

...and then he used his fight money to buy two of every animal, and then he herded them all onto a boat and then he beat the crap out every single one.

One thing I find with them is they get to use counterstrike a little more then the rest of the samurai. Melee units get a little more bold attacking a 3 defense unit with counterstrike then a five defense figure with counterstrike. A lot of the other samurai are the focus of renge attacks far to often.

Thanks for the last and greatest betrayal, of the last and greatest of human dreams.

I've used the Kozuke a lot. (But not lately). They were great and very destructive! They're usually the first units I send out(if my opponent has a few ranged figures. If they have a lot, I send them out when there's a little bit of range left) With a possible 8 move, they usually out move the range of a ranged squad (which pretty much means they can get the first hit without getting shot themselves since there's only a few figures with 8< range) All in all I would give these guys a B or B+
