Doc Savage's Customs - TNT Sgt. MacGreggor revised up

I would like to make it clear that this material is posted here for your own personal, non-commercial use....... Welcome to Doc Savage's Custom Army Card and Photo Emporium

Your opinions are welcome and encouraged.

This first post will have the most recent versions of all my cards... Newest first. I will also post revisions as the thread goes along, but the most current version will be the only version in this first post.

I finally got to revising the TNT approved Sgt. MacGreggor. If I have missed anything, please let me know.

With Scapeday '07 coming up, I made an updated Lobster Johnson card to go with the Classic Hellboy set.

8/15/07
Hellboy and the BPRD Boxed Set.
Some of these premiered in the Codex issue #7.
http://hscodex.com/
Here are all the classic 'Scape cards for the first time.

Here are the Classic Heroscape cards for the BPRD team. My earlier BPRD cards reflected the movie versions of the characters (especially Abe and Liz), while these more closely represent the characters as portrayed in the Dark Horse comic books. As usual, your comments are welcome.

The "S" at the bottom of Hellboy's card stands for Superstrength. For those of you without Marvelscape, here is the definition of Superstrength from the Marvel rulebook: A figure with this symbol is not affected by the Falling and Major Falling rules. The character is still affected by the Extreme Falling rules. A figure with this symbol also ignores any special powers that gives automatic shields to Destructible Objects.

And Hellboy as he was when summoned to Earth against his will. Imagine if Utgar would have would gotten ahold of the wee demon...

And there you have it. Check the Marvel customs forums to see the Marvelscape versions!

Here is my entry from Speed Contest #5 - KENAMON SOLO, a human / vampire hybrid. I tried to do a comparable power to Chilling touch, but I guess no one cared... My lowest score ever...

What can I do to help this guy? I think he needs to be better against the non-undead. Ideas?

Here is my 2nd place entry from Speed Customs #1 -

Brunn Erlen

Born on Marr into the mysterious race of Quaglanders known as the Ploog, Brunn Erlen broke with the Ploogian Council to fight the growing menace of Marro expansionism. The Ploog are a peaceful race, living in harmony with nature, creating art and music loved and treasured by the populace of Marr. But the Marro aggression, fueled by the recent intrusions of Utgar, have pushed Brunn to take up with the Primadon against this otherworldly menace. His natural abilities to merge with the Quaglands make him a potent fighter in the marshy back country of Marr. His favorite tactic is to silently move through the swamp, then appear suddenly, grabbing a victim or two and pulling them down into the embrace of the mire. Brunn also served as a guide and lead the way on recent attacks against the Marro hives.

In response to the attacks on the Marro hives, Utgar sent Ne-Gok-Sa across the void to Marro. The Warlord joined with the Grey Marro and travelled to the Quaglands, attacking the Ploog village of Thomaroy. The Ploog there were wiped out.
Brunn Erlen heard of the massacre and led a Primadon commando force through the Quaglands, catching up to Ne-Gok-Sa's Marro forces. The battle was legendary, but in the end Ne-Gok-Sa trapped Erlen with his horrible telepathic abilities. Before they knew what had happened, Erlen turned on the Primadon force, and dragged a Gorillanator squad into the depths of the swamp. When he returned to attack again, the Primadons were ready; weapons locked and loaded.

Fortunately, Vydar had been made aware of the bravery and valor of Brunn Erlen and snatched him to Valhalla just as the rain of automatic fire was unleashed. Brunn was left bitter and alone; the sole Ploogian in the battle of all time. His hatred of Utgar is unrelenting, surpassed only by the hatred for what he has become.

I can already see that I need to fix Essence of the Bog to say that he doesn't have to stop on swamp or swampwater spaces.

Any other notes?

11/20/06 - Echo Squad REVISED to clarify text and to limit the Cover Fire to once per round.

Here is a new squad...
The Echo Squad of the Colonial Marines

The wording of the 2 powers is pretty wordy... Any ideas for compressing it?

The figures are from the upcoming pre-painted Rackham SciFi game called AT43.

10/15/06
Here is my first two sided card... The winner of Fallen Templar's Rasputin Contest. There was a good bit of discussion on the contest entry thread -
http://www.heroscapers.com/community...er=asc&start=0

What do you think?

GRIGORI RASPUTIN, the MAD MONK

SIDE 1

SIDE 2

here is the figure from Wizkids HorrorClix

9/15/06
Wolverine
The figure is the Free Comicbook Day Heroclix give away figure. If you didn't get one last May, ask around and I'm sure many comic shops have some left.

Updated 10/2/06 I bumped his life up 1 and gave him the choice of 1 or 2 wounds removed.

8/29/06
Here's Luke Cage. He was the partner of Iron Fist in the Hero for Hire days. I'm not sure about his points, but I want him and Iron Fist to go for 200 points combined... This is a Heroclix figure.

Edited 8/31/06 to remove the Special Attack since it isn't really an attack and to change the power names.

7/8/2006

From the future (of 1974) I bring you DEATHLOK...
The figure is a Heroclix from the Marvel Sinister set. I picked one up from the local comic shop for 50 cents... Edited 7/9/06 to clarify the powers. Edited 7/15/06 To simplify the Laser power.

6/28/06
From the pages of Hellboy comes... Rasputin, the mad monk. He keeps your team alive and himself, too. The figure is an Indy Heroclix and should run you several pennies plus a buck or two shipping.

6/11/06
Here are the Kuang-Shi - Chinese Zombies. I am taking a different approach to Zombies than I have seen here before. However there have been lots of Zombies and Undead, so if I am ripping someone off, LET ME KNOW.

Edited 6/12/06 after many community comments. Looking forward to more! Edited 6/13/06 to go back to the simpler version, more clearly worded. Edited 6/18/06 to fix the stats and clean up language. Edited 6/28/06 to reduce defense and raise their cost.

The figures are common D&D Wardrums #46 Terror Wight.

6/3/06
Here is the new one - Lei-Gong - chinese god of thunder.

The figure is an Aspect of Hextor from the D&D Minis War Drums set. ninthDoc came up with the 6 arms, 6 life, 6 attack dice idea and I have just taken it upon myself to put it onto a card. If ninthDoc wants, I will change mine to something else...

Updated 6/6/6 with ChaosChild's Towering Presence wording. Edited 6/28/06 to increase basic attack, lower point cost.

Yes, more new stuff. These are War Drums D&D figures called Fiendish Girallon. I got 2 squads worth. 4/1/06 revised the grab power and the size.

I swapped some of the hands around on these guys and maybe should have done the hot water reposition of some of the arms, but I think they look pretty good.

This is Bodvar the Bold, a Viking King. The figure is Aspect of Moradin from D&D wardrums... 4/6/06 I revised the race to human and the King to Viking King. I also revised the Rally to specifically be the Tarns... 4/9/06 I tweaked the Rally language.

Here are the current versions of Doc and his Gear... Doc is a figure from www.pulpfigures.com

I have revised Violet - She now gets to choose 2 weapons at the beginning of the game. I also revised the Katana to keep the same name for the same power from Mac Greggor and the Rifle to tone down the power.

This is a fresh version of my first custom. Doug MacGreggor is a Chainsaw Warrior Games Workshop figure from the 1980s.

The Fin Head - Savage Dragon is another old figure - from the 1990s.

Iron Fist (not the Motorhead song!) He's a Heroclix figure.

Guan-Di is a Jaigun Fighter toy that was spotted first by 1moreheroscaper and brought to my attention on Annerios' HQ thread. He has a nice version of the character there. The thrown spear power is from Truth (see the Halls for its first use)

The Aliens are Here! - The Queen is a Konami Queen model kit and the Warrior are a mix of out of production knock-offs and long out of production Leading Edge figures. There is a possibility of HorrorClix making Alien figures and Predators, too.

I revised the Queen 5/14/06 to "20 or higher" instead of specifically "20".

I revised the Warriors 5/14/06 to "20 or higher" instead of specifically "20".

This is the first batch of Aliens cards that I did, but were deemed too complicated... They are presented here for historic value only...

And the Powerloader...

The BPRD - Hellboy, Lobster, and the Agents are Heroclix, and Abe and Liz are Gatcha vending machine figures I got from a vending machine.

A Contest entry from .net

The Kil Techs - These are Games Workshop 40K figures...

Here are the Terminators I did at .net... The Terminators are old figures from Hot Lead - Necrovores I think. I also recently got a Leading Edge Arnold T2 Terminator figure. He's a little small. Maybe Horrorclix will do Terminator also...

Here is the dread Dark Young....

As requested by Reapersaurus. These were entered in the Draconian contest on HQ...

More to come later...

Hey Doc: Glad to see your cards back up. I think I've seen a lot of these but not all of them. Thanks for posting them again - great job! =)

Jason is a puppet of Ne-Gok-Sa
Here are the ones I think you need to raise the cost of:

*Terminator T750's- 3 for only 100 points with 4/6 stats and a ranged attack! Plus an ability to boost the attack. I'd put them over 150.

*Ironfist- Seems pretty low too at 110. Lightning Reflexes seems very powerful and same with the Special attack. 4/5 with 6 movement is pretty good too

*Kil Teks-Seem low too at 120

Thank you all for the kind words.

Jason - Thanks for looking over my cards and for the input. I am not going to say that I think my costing skills are perfect, because it is the part of the process I am most unsure of. I also need to play these more to be sure. Here are some thoughts on the cost of the figures you singled out.

Ironfist - Remember his Ironfist power is once per game and Lightning Reflexes ends Ironfist's use that round even if he has more order markers.

Some comparisons...
BRUNAK gets carry, Blood Hungry and Lava resistant. Brunak has 2 less life, but 2 more defense. Both are 110.
VALGUARD gets 2 additional life, 1 less move, 2 less attack unless he uses First Assault - then he gets 1 more attack. Both are 110.
AGENT CARR has 1 less life, the option of attacking at range, 2 more Attack at range 1, and 1 less defense. Carr has the Ghost Walk and which are very valuable in melee combat. Carr costs 10 less.
GRIMNAK has 1 less move and a 2-space base, 1 less defense, and 2 less attack except Grimnak also gets an auto kill on Squad figures. Grimnak costs 10 more.

I am pretty comfortable with Ironfist. Perhaps I should reduce his move to 5 and maybe increase his cost 5 or 10, not sure, needs more testing.

T-750s - Their range sucks and their movement sucks.

ZETTIAN GUARDS get 1 more move, 3 more range, 2 less attack, 1 more defense and 1 less figure, and cost 30 points less. How much would you cost the Zettians if they were a 3 squad unit?

I am OK with the Terminators. If there was a consensus that they are underpriced, I think I might bump their move up 1 to a 4, and maybe take their attack down to a 5.

The KilTeks - I don't have any idea. I have never played them. If you were drafting, you'd only pick them if your opponent had lots of robots. In constructed there'd be too big a risk in taking them.

Thanks for looking, if testing and feedback says these guys cost too much, I am not at all opposed to revisions.

HeH said, "Okay lay it on me, Doc - where's the new stuff?"

Dare I say, "real soon"?

I am working on Rasputin for Hellboy, Powerman for Iron Fist, Ripley with a mess of USCM gear, a squad of USCMs, a Hawkgirl for my Daughter, and Dr. Doom - just for fun. I also want to do some more Cthulhu stuff... hey my Dark Young isn't here. I'll add that to the endless stream of cards in this thread.

Oh, yeah, and Doc Savage's crew and painting the Powerloader, and well, going to work. It's my busy season...

Doc, Dark Young is really neat, as is most of your stuff.

Question on Dark Young's Soul Shatter special. So, if he attacks a figure with 4 life, and deals 2 wounds, that figure's life total just became 3? If I have that right, what a two-sided coin! It's a kickass special attack, and very different, but what a let down if you score 5 hits on the roll.

Nice work though. Mind me asking what figure that is?

Wow! Like that Dark Young figure but not sure if 150 points is enough. He can potentially slow all figures to a crawl that are within 8 spaces. Although, it does affect all figures (opponent and friendly) as it is written now so there is a detriment to the power so maybe 150 is not bad.

On Soul Shater, the reduction of the life is from the printed life I take it? So instead of placing wound markers the figure's total life is reduced. That's a cool ability and really starts to hurt the higher life figures. Of course, it kills a one life figure instantly.

Great ideas! What figure is it?
