Yeah, the "big figure climb rule" owes its inception to some frustration on the part of one of our players who had mostly (if not all) large+ figures during a 2000 point round robin ... we had an urban map and a fortress map for two of the battlefields ... and we wanted to maintain some level of competitive play without having to forsake popular map designs or figure types.

EDIT: Yeah, the Tiny figure thing is a bit weird ... might have to change that; can't recall how often that actually comes up but it also doesn't seem like something that would require a whole lot of play testing (if any) to implement.

...Why not?...Might as well just provide the skills list. Now, in determining our approach to the rules, we went back and forth in the early stages of this ruleset. We were afraid that doing a skills list with keywords and such would over complicate the WYSIWYG philosophy of Heroscape. However, as time went on the skill/keyword lists proved quite beneficial in helping us accomplish what we wanted to accomplish with the ruleset.

SKILLS/KEYWORDS/RANGE TEMPLATES

SKILLS

• Acrobatic: While moving, this figure may ignore opposing figures and does not take leaving engagement attacks. This figure is also Agile.
• Addiction X: If, at the beginning of your turn, this figure is within clear sight of X, this figure must move all its movement toward X. To disengage a figure or DO, this figure must pass a d12 Will check.
• Agile: This figure may make an Agility check to avoid falling damage or being Knocked Down.
• Annoying: If this figure is within 4 spaces of an opposing figure, the opposing figure must use 1 strain to attack any figure that is not this figure.
• Arsenal: This figure may equip ranged weapon items.**Under REVIEW**
• Assassin X: When this figure destroys an opposing unique figure, you gain an additional X Victory Points.
• Business: Each other friendly figure has +1 Resource.
• Climb: When climbing, up to every 2 levels count as 1 space. You may ignore this figure’s height when climbing. This figure never takes falling or major falling damage.
• Close Combat Master: When attacking an opponent’s adjacent figure with a Physical attack, add one automatic skull to whatever is rolled. When rolling defense dice against an adjacent physical attack, add one automatic shield to whatever is rolled, and all excess shields count as unblockable hits on the attacking figure.
• Detective: For each Detective you have in your army, you can cancel an opposing army’s Pass at the beginning of each round.
• Engineer: While interacting with RDOs this figure may add or subtract one from d12 check rolls.
• Hidden: Do not deploy this figure. After deployment this figure may be placed on any space on the battlefield but must be out of clear sight of all opposing figures and more than 5 spaces away from any objective. If this isn’t possible, this figure must be placed in their Starting Zone. If an opposing figure has Total Vision, you may not use the Hidden skill.
• Huge+: Huge, Colossal, and Immense sized figures are never in cover.
• Infiltrator: During deployment, this figure may be placed in an opponent’s Starting Zone. If this figure starts the battle in an opponent’s Starting Zone, this figure cannot be attacked by this opponent’s army until it has attacked an opposing figure.
• Initiative X: Each round you may add X to your Initiative roll.
• Informer: If this figure is on the battlefield, you may use an additional Pass each round.
• Insane: This skill does not affect the battle unless referenced on another card’s special ability or skill.
• Leader: After completing this figure’s activation, you may immediately take 1 free action with another friendly figure from the same Team List; Or you may do a free Move with a figure that is not from the same Team List. Do not remove an Order Marker from the friendly figure’s card.
• Marksman X: When making a ranged attack, if this figure spends 2 actions, you may add X Range or X Attack dice to this figure’s Attack.
• Master Marksman: This figure may reroll ranged attack rolls and use Marksman X.
• Martial Artist: When rolling defense dice against an adjacent attack, all excess shields count as unblockable hits on the attacking figure
• Mechanic: As an Action, this figure may remove 1 Wound Marker or Strain Marker from an adjacent friendly android or robot figure’s Army Card. Additionally, this figure may do the same with an unoccupied or friendly occupied VDO. This figure may not use the Mechanic skill if an opposing figure is adjacent to this figure or the targeted figure.
• Medic: As an action, this figure may remove one Wound Marker or Strain from an adjacent friendly figure. This figure may not use the Medic skill if an opposing figure is adjacent to this figure or the targeted figure.
• Menace: Opposing squad figures must pass a Willpower check before attacking this figure.
• Pilot: This figure may pilot vehicles.
• Reflexes: When attempting to Dodge, this figure may reroll failed Agility rolls.
• Scientific: This figure may reroll failed Willpower rolls.
• Small: Opposing figures must be within Range 3 to attack this figure.
• Strategist: You may have one extra Order Marker to the side of this card. You may spend this Order Marker at the beginning of the round to automatically win initiative or spend it during the round to give you a free pass.
• Stealth: If this figure is adjacent to an object that is the same size or bigger, this model is considered in cover and cannot be seen by figures more than 4 spaces away. Also, if this figure is on a shadow space or in darkness, opposing figures cannot see this figure unless engaged.
• Stupid: This character cannot interact.
• Teamwork X: After this figure’s activation, you may immediately use a friendly figure from the same Team List or affiliation that is within X spaces to move or attack.
• Tiny: To attack this figure opposing figures must be adjacent.

Special Ability Keywords:

• Carry X: Before moving, this figure may choose X friendly adjacent figures. After moving, you may place the chosen figures adjacent to this figure.
• Cosmic: This figure may move on infinite spaces.
• Fly: While moving and counting spaces for this figure, you may ignore elevations and engagement. If this figure is engaged when it starts to fly, it will take any leaving engagement attacks. Additionally, this figure may end its movement in the Soaring position.
• Hack X: This figure may target a character with a Tech attack or ability. Roll the d20. If you roll X or higher the opposing figure must pass a Will check. If the check is failed, you may immediately use a Tech attack or ability with the targeted figure.
• Heightened Smell: This figure is not affected by the Blind effect and may ignore the invisible ability and stealth skill.
• Immortal: If this figure is destroyed and returns, the opposing army loses the Victory Points gained for destroying this figure.
• Invisible: This figure cannot be seen by figures more than 1 space away and is always in cover.
• Invulnerable vs X: Before rolling Defense dice against an attack of X type, roll a d12 Endurance Check. If successful, ignore all damage. If failed, the most wounds this figure may take from this attack is one.
• Magic User: This figure may use its to equip spellbook before a battle **Under REVIEW**.
• Mental Shield: An opponent may never take temporary or permanent control of this figure. Additionally, this figure may not be targeted by Mind attacks.
• Night Vision: This figure may ignore shadow space modifiers and the effects of the darkness condition (this includes ignoring a stealth figure’s benefits from shadow spaces and darkness conditions)
• Resistance X vs Y: For each skull rolled for an attacking figure’s attack of “Y” Type or Classification, roll “X” additional defense dice.
• Summon X: Once per game, this figure may summon a X squad and place them within 3 spaces of this figure.
• Super Strength: This figure is not affected by Falling and Major Falling rules, and it may ignore 2 automatic shields when attacking DOs. The figure is still affected by Extreme Falling rules. When attacking with a Strength Physical Blunt attack you may Knockback defending figures.
• Survival: If this figure receives enough wounds to be destroyed, suffer 1 Strain and make a Will roll. If the roll is successful, remove enough Wound Markers to leave this figure with 1 life.
• Tech: This special ability is not innate but is dependent on technology. This keyword does not affect the battle unless referenced on another card’s special ability or skill.
• Thermal Vision: This figure ignores the effects of the Invisible keyword and Stealth skill.
• Telekinesis X: This figure may pick up and carry Destructible Objects as if it had a strength level of X with Super Strength. Additionally, it may also pick up objects that are within X clear sight spaces. (When throwing a Destructible Object with Telekinesis, always count spaces from the space occupied by this figure).
• Total Vision: This figure has Night Vision and ignores the effects of the Invisible keyword and Stealth skill. Additionally, this figure has Line of Sight through all obstacles. However, this figure cannot target figures while using Total Vision.
• Undead: This keyword does not affect the battle unless referenced on another card’s special ability or skill.
• Wall-Crawl: When determining height advantage to an opposing figure, this figure may use the height of any terrain that he is adjacent to.
• Weak: For each Wound Marker on this card, this figure’s Move is reduced by 1.

Range Keywords

• Beam X: Place the beam template along the edge of this figure’s base. All figure’s within the template’s range are affected.
• Direction Hex: Each side of the hex is numbered between 1-6. If an item is dropped or if a special ability or effect calls for a direction hex, place the direction hex template over the directed space, roll the d6, and move the item or figure in the the direction matching the rolled number and the hex side. Roll the d6 again to determine the distance of travel, if not otherwise indicated.
• Homing X: This attack does not require line of sight. Instead establish a clear path to the target that is within X spaces.
• Melee: This attack has a range of 1.
• Orbital Blast: Place and center the template anywhere on the board as directed by the attack’s text.
• Remote: This figure does not need Line of Sight to target a figure.
• Spray 1: Place the spray template along the edge of this figure’s base. All figure’s within the template’s range are affected.
• Spray 2: Place the spray template along the edge of this figure’s base. All figure’s within the template’s range are affected.
• Wave X: All figures within X spaces from this figures are affected.

Effects

• Blind: This figure has a move of 1 and cannot see opposing figures for clear sight or line of sight. This effect lasts until the end of the round.
• Corrosion: If wounded by an attack with this effect, immediately roll an Attack die and continue rolling an additional attack die until you fail to roll a skull. Receive 1 wound for each skull rolled.
• Destroy: The affected figure is immediately destroyed and removed from the battlefield.
• Displace: After the attack, the affected figure should roll a d6 direction die and suffer knockback in the indicated direction.
• Entangle: Each time this figure moves 1 space it costs 2 move instead. After each activation, this figure may make a d12 Strength or Agility check. If passed, remove this effect.
• Explosive 1: Center the Explosive 1 template within the designated range. All figures within the templates diameter are affected.
• Explosive 2: Center the Explosive 2 template within the designated range. All figures within the templates diameter are affected.
• Flame: Figures with a Fire marker on their card receive 1 Wound Marker at the start of each activation. As an action a figure may remove this effect.
• Flash: Figures affected by Flash receive the Blind effect until the end of the round.
• Freeze: This figure may not move or attack. At the start of an activation, this figure may make a Strength check. If passed, this figure may remove this effect and continue their activation.
• Gas X: Center the smoke template within designated range. All figures within the templates diameter are affected. The gas remains in play for X rounds. Smoke is considered a DO and blocks Line of Sight.
• Hypnotize: An affected figure must make a d12 Will check. If failed, the player of the attacking character controls this figure until the end of the affected figure’s next activation.
• Knock Down: Knocked Down figures cannot Dodge. Additionally, they cannot move without standing.
• Paralyze: This figure cannot Move or Attack. At the end of an activation, a figure must pass a Will check to remove this effect.
• Stun: This figure must take 2 Strain or it may only complete one action on their next turn.
• Smoke: When placed, figures cannot see into, out of, or through an area affected by smoke. Smoke is considered a DO
• Terror: This figure subtracts 2 from all attacks. A passed Will check taken as an action is required to remove.
• Toxic X: The targeted figure receives X automatic wounds.

New Paint work … I do not like assembling resin models especially ones with plastic helmets … extra especially when one is allergic to super glue. Anyway, turned out alright in the end. Had to add some effects to hide cracks in the helmet using some resin filler and paint.
