How far can you get in Contra?

If it wasn't for Energy Zone, I could beat the game. I can get to the boss at the end of Energy Zone, then I run out of continues.

I'm able to beat it without using "the code". I used to spend far too much time playing video games. Most of my records have been beaten now (although the new records are using emulators and cheats).

I've known a few. I found it good... and fun with friends... but yeah, I'm not necessarily a fanboy of it either. I don't really care for the sequels either.

The thing people usually jump on me about is that I found Ocarina of Time annoying and boring. I've beaten it but I didn't care for it at all... and up until maybe 8 years ago I held the record for beating the original Zelda. I loved the original Zelda, second one was OK, loved the third, but haven't enjoyed most of them since.

Man! without the code i think you would need to be a video game wiz without much of a life.

Anyway playing with the code does not take away the fun factor of the game.

I got so good at the original NES contra that I no longer needed the 30 guy code and could beat the game with more guys than I started. I must have beaten that game 100's of times.

My friend and I used to play Contra so much that we got to the point where we could beat the game without any continues. I can't remember if we ever made it through the game without losing one single guy, but I know we got to the point where turning on the Konami code was just to keep in practice.

I have one friend who plays it with me, but he has this habit of CAMPING AT THE LEFT OF THE SCREEN so I fall down pits becuase the screen won't advance.

I can beat this game without the code. It doesn't sound like I am quite as good as some of you guys, but I can pretty well beat it every time I play without problems.

DO NOT BUY CONTRA 3: THE ALIEN WARS OFF OF THE WII VIRTUAL CONSOLE IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A CLASSIC CONTROLLER.

The controls for the GameCube Controller are absolutely horrible. Y is to fire, and B is to jump... THEY SPREAD OUT THE TWO MOST IMPORTANT BUTTONS.

Contra is sweet. I love Contra 3 on SNES. Played it a couple of days ago. Good times.
