Where is quality control on this project? Gulp.

Thanks for catching the error! It is now fixed.

Thank you! The figure is really great but the wings do encounter some blocking issues on some boards. Raeze does fit well on a peanut base.

She's a nice clean-up figure and we play-tested her with Greenscales as the core of the army and also as an add-on Unique Hero.

RAEZA -- Army Ideas:

Army # 1:
Greenscales x4 ... 240
Kryllin ... 380
Raeza ... 510

This uses Kryllin one of our NW Customs for an Ullar theme. You could sub in Sonlen for a similar build.
https://www.heroscapers.com/communit...&postcount=134

Army # 2:
Greenscales x3 ... 180
Syvarris ... 280
Aristeos ... 370
Raeza ... 500

This uses Aristeos one of our NW Customs for an Ullar theme. You could substitute Myrddin from Aquilla for a special attacker.
https://www.heroscapers.com/communit...&postcount=151

Army # 3:
Greenscales x3 ... 180
Rhogar ... 290
Raelin RotV or Kelda ... 370
Raeza ... 500

Army # 4:
Alyssa Davion ... 95
Guardians of Davion x3 ... 380
Raeza ... 510

* This build uses our NW customs. Since Raeza is a Protector, there is synergy with Alyssa Davion. You could substitute Saylind for the 'Summoning' instead of Alyssa and then swap Guardians for Warriors of Ashra or Greenscales.

I like the changes you made to Raeza from the first version I saw! My only quibble would be with the personality -- Dangerous just doesn't strike me as a Heroscape personality. But that's only a quibble. Maybe half a quibble. A quib.

Yeah - a Dangerous Protector - sort of odd. But think of her like a fierce mother protecting her young. And the 'danger' of her Rampage sort of goes with her personality.

I put it in the category of Stoic like Siege (who is the only Stoic character) or Shurrak - Militaristic.

We had her at Ferocious to start - and that would have worked as well. I think Dangerous was added later to reflect the 'Rampage' power and her Bio.

Re: Northwest Heroscape Customs - Undead 1/7/17

Back in August 2013 I started an online contest for a great repaint that I had commissioned. I forget who I borrowed the idea from (maybe qt.bangerang) to have Heroscape Elves repainted - but they were certainly on to something!

Here's that old contest thread:
https://www.heroscapers.com/communit...ad.php?t=49107

Our NW Heroscape Customs team had the figure and we decided to craft our own for play-testing and the result was Bellochar.

We wanted to help the Drow - and move them from a 'terrain dependent' unit to have more flexibility on other battlefields. Bellochar's Shadow Casting is the key - providing the protection of shadow and the trigger to boost Hide in Darkness. It certainly requires some OM Management but he is like a 'Raelin of the Dark' for the Drow to give them some survivability to close to melee.

He also adds a nice 'shotgun style' special attack with his eldritch fireball (Chath = Flame in the drow language).

Vadik Hollesturm
NWHC Wave 4 – Fields of Wildfire - Fire and Sorrow

PDF DOWNLOAD, front
PDF DOWNLOAD, back

Figure: DC HeroClix, Justice League: Trinity War, Deathstorm #41

General: Utgar
Planet: Eberron

Species: Primordial
Unique Hero
Class: Sorcerer
Personality: Tricky
Medium 5

Life: 5
Move: 5
Range: 7
Attack: 3
Defense: 4
110 points

ELEMENTAL ERUPTION
Instead of attacking, you may choose one figure you control that has the Lava Resistant special power within 6 clear sight spaces of Vadik Hollesturm or you may chose Vadik Hollesturm. Roll the 20-sided die once for each opponent's figure adjacent to the chosen figure. If you roll a 14 or higher, that adjacent figure receives a wound unless it is Lava Resistant. Before rolling, you may add 3 to your roll if you add one wound to the chosen figure after using Elemental Eruption.

LAVA CREATURE ENHANCEMENT
Friendly squad figures with the Lava Throw or Wyld Firestorm special power that are within 4 clear sight spaces of Vadik Hollesturm may add 2 to their range.

LAVA RESISTANT
Vadik Hollesturm never rolls for molten lava damage or lava field damage, and he does not have to stop on molten lava spaces.

Character Bio:
The Primordials: For over a century, a secret order of sorcerers of Eberron sought to master the arcane arts of elemental magic. The order divided their pursuit among five elements: Air, Earth, Fire, Water, and Wood. Members of the order researched rituals and spells that would help them harness and command their chosen elemental “school.” The highest ranking member of each school carried the title of Prime Master, or Primordial. The Primordials passed on their knowledge to different apprentices, and those aspiring magicians were dispatched on quests across Eberron and the other realms to increase the knowledge and power of the Primordials.

Recently on Valhalla, the Generals of each faction have summoned a Primordial of each Elemental school. Now armed with new methods of magic, the Generals are tasking the Primordial sorcerers to use their powers in the Battle of All Time.

Vadik Hollesturm: From an early age and during his apprenticeship, the elven sorcerer Daelak, was fascinated by fire magic. He was certainly a talented pyrokinetic, but his experiments to channel and control greater volumes of mystical flame often had disastrous results. And playing with fire in a land where ancient trees were not just your home but were also sacred was frowned upon. Daelak’s teachers guided him to other (safer) schools of magic.

While traveling with his master in search of new spell components, Daelak met the human wizard Anzunden. There was a palpable magical connection between the two but, following the etiquette of his upbringing, Daelak remained silent. As his master and Anzunden bartered over the ingredients, Daelak was surprised to find that *he* was traded by his master for a very rare, and once lost, tome on elvish herbology. His master apologized but the recovery of the lore was too important to his people.

Before too much shock set in, Anzunden assured Daelak that this was not an indentured servitude. He was actually being ‘freed’ from the closed minds of the elves and that his inner power would finally be realized. Unsure of his future, Daelak now traveled with him new master.

Over time, Daelak came to understand that his new ‘lessons’ and ‘tests’ were just as much Anzunden learning from him as he was learning from his master. And Anzunden quite enjoyed the destructive magics that Daelak had always sought to control. With Daelak’s refined skills as weaving enchantments and Anzunden’s potent invocations, the two made an excellent team. But as a human, with perceived little time to master magic compared to the more patient elves, Anzunden took many short-cuts to find more mystical power.

These short-cuts included bartering with other humans but also the dabbling of demon binding. Daelak started to understand his role now – that he would provide protective magicks for his master and that his natural pyrokinetic skills would be used to control the hellfire that often accompanied a botched summoning. The first few conjurations were a modest success. New spells were gleaned by both master and apprentice but Anzunden wanted more.

The next summoning attempted was a successful, the capturing of a lesser named demoness. That ritual was successful but she called for her lord to save her and that dark prince heard her call. An eruption of hellfire consumed Anzunden and nearly destroyed Daelak. The young sorcerer contained the unholy fire as best he could but it came by channeling the necromantic energies of his dying master. The ritual, which was meant to take power from demon, was tapped to steal part of the soul of his master. In the fiery explosion that followed, Anzunden was incinerated and Daelak’s elven body was transmutated. His face became sunken in, bearing a death like appearance, and he bore a burning halo of fire. He was stronger and the mystical energies that coursed through him were a combination of human, sylvan, and demonic magicks.

It was clear to Daelak that he was no longer an apprentice nor an elf. As he was something different, he took on the name Vadik Hollesturm, using the language of his master. Using minor glamours to hide his appearance, the now master sorcerer sought others to help tame his newfound powers.

In time, Vadik joined the Order of Primordials, though his elemental fire was markedly different than his fellow members. In his time with the Primordials, Vadik found that he could create and increase existing flames. He was also invulnerable to even the most extreme natural heat and fire, though in a dangerous experiment he learned quickly that he was not immune to dragon-fire.

Though Vadik found his time with the Primordials to be fruitful, he was never quite accepted among them. He continued to experiment with his powers and in his dabbling with binding and outerplanar rituals, he sought to create his own elementals. As he reached out into the other planes, he was contacted by Utgar, a being of unique power from another world. Vadik heeded the call and was summoned to Valhalla.

Vadik was impressed with the Arch-Kyrie and the world of Valhalla. He could sense that his new leader was much like Anzunden, and therefore dangerous but also a source of knowledge. Utgar granted Vadik lands in Volcarren to do with has he saw fit. In return, Vadik would guard the Searing Pass and also seek the sacred Lava Stone of Volcarren to appease the Moltarns.

The primitive and superstitious Moltarns embraced the arrival of Vadik. His halo of fire and his immunity to the harsh environment marked him as a sacred spirit. Amongst them, Vadik found a new homeland and purpose. Deciphering their shamantic rites, and combined with his own alchemical rituals, he created a process to transmute a Moltarn into a new form. After being encased in magically forged stone and immersed in their sacred lava pool, a chrysalis would occur that transformed the Moltarn into a pure elemental form. This new “Wyldfire” Moltarn retained its sentience and was truly a Living Flame.

Many Moltarns volunteered to go through the sacramental transmutation from Obsidian Guard to Obsidian Wyldfire. Though not as strong, the new bodies of the Obsidians could unleash their fire as jets of flame. With practice, the Wyldfire guards could launch those flames a great distance but, as the ritual is still experimental, sometimes a Wyldfire loses control and tears free from its form.

With Vadik as their new spiritual and military leader, the Moltarns have rejoined the armies of Utgar. Others have assembled in Volcarren now – with Brunak and Shurrak and even Moltenclaw joining with Vadik Hollesturm. The Fields of Fire have been reinforced.

If you roll a 11-18, add 1 to the attack value of this card. If you roll a 19-20, add 1 to the attack value of this card and before attacking you may choose one Obsidian Wyldfire you control. It can be hard to find reasonably priced Common Squads these days but I think we stumbled upon a great find with the Heroclix 'Phoenix Fragments.' You can find them for between 50-cents and $1 at a few different retailers and Troll-and-Toad still have 20+ of most in stock.

http://www.trollandtoad.com/p1064529.html

The Northwest Customs team had been working on a Unique Hero to help the Obsidian Guards for a while. That figure eventually became Vadik Hollesturm but attempts to make the Obsidians better 'but not too good' made for several iterations and experiments.https://www.heroscapers.com/communit...&postcount=248

Then we found the Heroclix Fragments, and for less than $10 we had 3 squads to play-test. Creating a brand new squad meant that the old Obsidian Guards still aren't as powerful but it opened up creative synergies for the Wyldfire.

The end result including a Hero bonding option to bring in Vadik but also opened up new possibilities for other "Firelords" like Brunak and Shurrak. I think Brunak can stand on his own in the right army but with the Wyldfire ~ he has a chance to shine on non-lava boards. That 7 Defense and 3 Life still has its vulnerabilities but Brunak is one of my favorite builds with this new squad.

Shurrak is a beast in his own right but his special attack is hard to line up and for 160-points there are often many better figures that you'd like to run. With the Wyldfire he becomes more of a threat as he leads a charge of short-range elementals. He's also good with Vadik - since Vadik can use his Elemental Eruption on Shurrak if the armored giant is engaged with multiple figures.

We had the situation this weekend where Cyprien picked up a Gem of Lava Resistance.

PERMANENT TREASURE GLYPH
This figure gains the Lava Resistant special power. This figure never rolls for molten lava damage or lava field damage and does not have to stop in molten lava spaces.
We decided that figures with this treasure do NOT get to Bond with the Obsidian Wyldfire.
