Kalibak leads out against Bucky and Falcon. The Avengers duo deals a lot of damage to Kalibak, powering up his Beta Club. Kalibak kills Falcon with Seeking Approval, and deals a few wounds to Winter Soldier. Kalibak puts a couple wounds on Cap before Winter Soldier takes him out.

Darkseid kills Cap then Winter Soldier. Black Widow brings Darkseid to 1 life before he takes her out.


Who won? List figures remaining in the winning army (include life remaining for heroes): Darkseid (7 wounds) wins.

Units: Kalibak (380), Darkseid (520), Parademons x5 (1300) VS Injustice League: Lex Luthor, Solomon Grundy, Gorilla Grodd, Deathstroke, Doctor Light (1300)

Spoiler Alert!

Darkseid sends a bunch of Parademons out first to clog up the battlefield, then he and Kalibak enter the fray. The Apokoliptans don’t have the greatest dice, and Kalibak is felled quickly by Grundy and Deathstroke.

Darkseid takes out Grundy, while the Injustice League whittles away at the Parademons and Darkseid. Darkseid kills Deathstroke next. Doctor Light brings Darkseid to 7 wounds, then the Parademons kill the bad Doctor. Darkseid manages to survive the Grodd & Lex final assault, and wins handily.


Who won? List figures remaining in the winning army (include life remaining for heroes): Darkseid (7 wounds) and 5 resurrected Parademons in the start zone win.

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: Two wins, but both were pretty close and Kalibak barely did anything in the second one. Kalibak was a lot of fun in the first game with his Beta Club and Seeking Approval really able to lay down the hurt. Points seem in the right ballpark all things considered.

Pre-Game Thoughts/Preview : Kalibak is gonna be the main brawler here, and he’ll rely on Shadowcat to move him where he needs to go in the early game. The Agents are gonna rely on Rogers and Crystal for the most part, while using the other figures to support them.

Damage Done (Normal Attack) : Used 2 times, 2 wounds to Commander Rogers
BETA-CLUB : Used 1 time, 3 wounds to Commander Rogers
SEEKING APPROVAL : N/A
ENHANCED DURABILITY : Mitigated 5 wounds.

Quake makes Crystal an Agent. Leo rolls a 1, puts the Stun Marker on Commander Rogers.

ROUND 1 : Agent initiative.
Early movement. Shadowcat carries Kalibak up, then Rogers fires at him and deals 1 wound. Star-Lord opens up with Distracting Fire to move up Kalibak, but Quake disengages Rogers when Kalibak gets close; Jemma puts a marker on Kalibak.

ROUND 2 : Team Kalibak initiative.
Jemma negates Kalibak’s powers, but that doesn’t matter too much since he walks up to Crystal. Quake moves Crystal out of melee range of Kalibak. Crystal and Rogers attack Kalibak, Kalibak takes a wound from Crystal destroying a rock she placed last round. Kalibak and Rogers start swinging, neither fighter is wounded.

ROUND 3 : Agent initiative.
Kalibak is getting whittled down by Rogers, but the rest of his team moves in and Zemo kills Crystal.

ROUND 4 : Agent initiative.
The round starts with Rogers and Quake failing to wound Kalibak. Kalibak then gets a 7 skull Beta-Club roll that finishes Rogers. Coulson moves up and uses his Secret Weapon on Kalibak, getting the last 2 wounds needed to kill him. Star-Lord uses Distracting Fire and heavily wounds Coulson, while moving Zemo and Shadowcat up.

ROUND 5 : Team Kalibak initiative. Fitz extracts Coulson.
Zemo opens the round by failing to wound Quake. Quake then uses her special attack to move Zemo off of her and deals 3 wounds. Quake is warding off the red team with her Seismic Shock/Protective Aftershocks.

ROUND 6 : Team Kalibak initiative.
Coulson moves back up and leads Quake ; the duo make short work of Zemo. Shadowcat tries to attack Quake twice but fails to wound both times, and Quake’s shakes were too much for Shadowcat. Star-Lord is all alone.

ROUND 7 : Team Kalibak initiative.
Star-Lord is giving it his all, and manages to wound Quake. He ends the round heavily wounded from her and Coulson’s attacks though.

ROUND 8 : Agent initiative.
Star-Lord can’t keep up with Coulson’s and Quake’s attacks, and he goes down. Agents win!

Post-Game Thoughts : Really fun game. Kalibak took so much time for the Agents to kill and he smushed Rogers, but his teammates let him down. Beta-Club makes him the kind of character that you cannot leave alive at low life.

Pre-Game Thoughts/Preview : The Thunderbolts have solid synergy, whereas the Red Team is just a bunch of strong attackers. Still, if the Thunderbolts can’t finish Kalibak, he could start swinging very hard.

Damage Done (Normal Attack) : Used 4 times, 3 wounds to MACH-I, 4 wounds to Techno, 3 wound to Citizen V
BETA-CLUB : Used 2 times, 2 wounds to Songbird

ENHANCED DURABILITY : Forgot to count each wound mitigated, but it was easily 5+

ROUND 1 : Red Team initiative.
The fighting starts fast as Darkseid nearly wounds Atlas with his Omega Effect, but Ionic Imbalance keeps Atlas ok. The Thunderbolts move up aggressively, and with an X reveal on Citizen V, Robot goes down quickly to a volley of fire from Meteorite and MACH-I.

ROUND 2 : Red Team initiative.
Thunderbolts open by moving Citizen V and Songbird up. Darkseid and Phoenix focus on Meteorite and quickly kill her in melee. Atlas gets a big attack off on Phoenix that nearly kills her (and wounds Darkseid with Phoenix Fire), but Kalibak gets into the back row of the Thunderbolts and wounds MACH-I.

ROUND 3 : Red Team initiative.
Phoenix blasts Songbird and MACH-I, killing MACH-I in the process. Kalibak then one shots Techno. Using “Justice, Like Lightning…” Citizen V activates himself and Atlas for their OM 2. Atlas takes her down with a big attack roll. Citizen V then engages Darkseid, and manages to get 1 wound onto him. Darkseid is unimpressed, and nearly kills Citizen V.

ROUND 4 : Thunderbolt initiative.
Citizen V activates his allies on the first OM and they focus on Darkseid, nearly killing him. Kalibak comes in and wounds Citizen V. Atlas manages to kill Darkseid, and the round ends with Kalibak taking 1 more wound.

ROUND 5 : Thunderbolt initiative.
Kalibak is rampaging through the Thunderbolts, killing Citizen V and Songbird. Although heavily wounded, it’s either mans game between Atlas and Kalibak.

ROUND 6 : Thunderbolt initiative.
Kalibak is heavily wounded, and is swinging his Beta-Club for big damage. Some crazy luck has Atlas roll 17+ on Ionic Imbalance two turns in a row, and kills Kalibak this way. Thunderbolts win!

Post-Game Thoughts : Very competitive game. Even though they lost Robot early, the Red Team was such heavy hitters that they nearly brought it back.

Thoughts on the Tested Unit's Cost, Balance, and Draftability : Kalibak feels on point. 380 is pricy, but he’s rolling some big numbers on offense, and his potential is even higher when he’s low life. Not sure if the New Gods are going to end up being their own faction, but even with his very light synergy I would still think about drafting him if my army needs a frontline tank.

General Thoughts on the Tested Unit : Kalibak is a really fun bruiser. Both games were losses, but I think Kalibak was carrying his team both games. The Beta-Club/Enhanced Durability combo makes him horrifying for armies that don’t have good special attacks or autowounds. I didn't get Seeking Approval to activate in the 2nd game, but the Thunderbolts were able to ignore Kalibak when he was in melee so he didn't roll unblockables against them.

2-2 in public tests with him performing well in losses and being overshadowed by Darkseid in wins. Seems pretty balanced. I propose we move to Final Editing.

I think I went with move out to make it clear he's the one who can't do it and you can still throw him out of it or what not. But I think that's still clear with leave, so I'll make the above changes now.
