Edge of the World Climb.
Acording to the rule book, it is possible to do a 'sideways' or 'diagonal' climb, such as this.
=4 =3== = 2= =1== So is it possible to do this at the edge of the board? if so, you could avoid haveing to break down the Castle door all together! If there is one just die, there is always a chance. |

No. You have to use your imagination that the wall and the board don't end.

I'd think you could, since you can see through the gaps of the maps, which are technecly edges of the board. so why couldnt you climb there as well, so long as nothing is blocking you.

Because you have to physically be able to place the figure on each space it would occupy. A figure can't be placed where there isn't a space. Now if you put a ladder rung on the edge of the map...

I guess it makes sence for my thing. ...but the Ladder Rungs wouldnt work either. acording to the rule book of the Castle Set, the rungs have to reach all the way from the top peice to the bottem landing peice. since there is no 'physical space', the Ladders wouldnt work. ...legaly.

If you want to do something like this, just use Molten Lava.
As for your original question, you can't actually climb around a ledge like that, despite what the example says. There's another thread on "wall walking" that goes into this, but that's not the intention of that example. What they're showing you, is that a figure can climb a ledge even if there's a gap in it. The figure isn't actually stepping on that point, but using it to correctly count the move points required to make the climb. There's a similar funny example like this in the Road expansion as well. |

...I should thank you for pointing this out. I just re-checked the rule book, and it reads "count", not "climb" said spaces when a low over hang exsist (thus, my asumption of a 'diagonal' climb). Thanks!
