The Book of Battle Beast
The Book of Battle Beast C3G IMAGE WAVE 40 WAR OF THE INDEPENDENTS Comic PDF Mini PDF The figure used for this unit is a customized Heroclix figure from the Galactic Guardians set. The model number and name are #007 / Blood Brother. _________________________________________________________________ Character Bio - Possessed with an unslakable lust for combat and carnage, Battle Beast travels the galaxy in search of foes worthy of his time. As he is super-felinely strong beyond measure, he oft finds his targets wanting. Even the average Viltrumite pales in comparison to him, but perhaps if he slaughters enough of them he will finally find the foe truly worthy of him... _________________________________________________________________ -Rulings and Clarifications-

NAME = BATTLE BEAST
SECRET IDENTITY = THOKK SPECIES = UNKNOWN UNIQUENESS = UNIQUE HERO CLASS = CHALLENGER PERSONALITY = FEROCIOUS SIZE/HEIGHT = MEDIUM 6 LIFE = 7 MOVE = 6 RANGE = 1 ATTACK = 7 DEFENSE = 6 POINTS = 400 WORTHY FOE At the start of each round, if Battle Beast does not have a Foe on the battlefield, you must choose an enemy Unique or Event Hero on the battlefield with the highest Attack number listed on its card to be his Foe. Battle Beast cannot leave engagement with his Foe. When attacking his Foe, Battle Beast may re-roll any or all attack dice one time. FEROCIOUS STRIKE When attacking with Battle Beast’s normal attack, if you roll at least: • 2 skulls, subtract 2 from the defending figure's Defense number; and • 4 skulls, the defending figure immediately receives 1 wound; and • 6 skulls, wounds inflicted with that attack cannot be ignored. FIGHTS ALONE Battle Beast cannot take a turn unless you revealed a numbered Order Marker on his card for that turn and no special power on any friendly Army Card can add to his Move, Range, Attack, or Defense numbers. Re: The Book of Battle Beast
Fights alone is a cool power and will push him into some interesting armies probably. Maybe something about no additional turns if you take a turn with him as well to shut off bonding that works off other figures OMs?

Re: The Book of Battle Beast
I've got him at about 330-350ish before Fights Alone, which is obviously a pretty decent negative for army building.
Seems like best competitive partners would be anyone who defensively lets him avoid attacks (doesn't add to defense) and any contingency plan types if you just run him up ahead? C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: The Book of Battle Beast
There’s probably something interesting in like...Battle Beast, Red Skull II, and Valkyrie as the core of a build. Pricey, but I wouldn’t know who to kill first.

Re: The Book of Battle Beast
Pretty terrifying offensive power, but forcing him into a lack of synergy makes it not super exploitable. Definitely a unique design which is cool.
Anything you could do besides Challenger for the class? |

Re: The Book of Battle Beast
Still love it. He'll be best teamed up with Red Skull 2 since that's one of the few synergies he can use, outside of carries and static moves like from Robot.
His real name is Thokk. I couldn't find it in the book, but it's on Ottley's twitter and he's the guy who actually created him, so I'm going to say it's canon. Couldn't find a species though. More of his race show up but they're never named. Also apparently his rage is part of a curse. But it was an offhand comment as a little throwaway fun and never expanded on. So you COULD rename one of the powers "Rage Curse" or something if you want. But I wouldn't want to try to delve into that much. |

Re: The Book of Battle Beast
Yeah, Lex would probably be a solid pairing. Good call.

Re: The Book of Battle Beast
FIGHTS ALONE
Battle Beast cannot take a turn unless you revealed a numbered Order Marker on his card for that turn. When taking a turn with Battle Beast, ignore any special power on any friendly army card. Would that work? Or are there are ton of unintended consequences there? C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: The Book of Battle Beast
Could say "When taking a turn with Battle Beast, ignore any special power on any friendly army card that would affect Battle Beast or a figure that Battle Beast attacks."
Pretty unorthodox though. Realistically this could be a game-not-simulation thing where we don't worry about it. There's tons of theme on this card already, if we lose a single thing it won't affect my enjoyment of it. |
